Tripura receives highest rain fall among | AGARTALA, April 24 (TIWN): A flood like situation has gripped Northeast state Tripura after a consistent rain since 4 days here. The condition of National Highway has gone to its worst shape along with damages, one life loss out of lightning in Western part of Tripura. Big-big trees have fallen on roadside, whereas normal lives have been heavily disrupted. Agartala, Udaipur like cities prime areas are now under knee-level of water and the Northern Tripura's condition is also same. River Howrah's water level has increased much and at Dumboor the condition is more or less same. As per weather dept report, the rain to continue here for some more days. Farmers are facing heavy losses, due to the continuous pre-monsoon rains. More rainfall activity is expected for next 3-4 days. This rainfall can be attributed to the the trough which is extending from West Uttar Pradesh to Arunachal Pradesh.This trough is travelling across Assam, Sikkim, North West Bengal, and Tripura. Tripura Teachers raise voice against lon | AGARTALA, April 23 (TIWN): Agitated teachers held a 4 hour long protest at Agartala on Sunday led by Joint Teachers' Movement Committee (JTMC), raising voice for 7th pay commission’s implementation at the earliest in Tripura, when many states are enjoying the pay commission already. Many teachers’ associations joined the protest move including the members of CPI-M backed TGTA, demanding pay commission as well as refunding of DA, which has already ordered by HC. The Finance Minister had offered a Rs. 600 crores budget for 1.5 lakhs of employees in Tripura, whereas, about the pay structure nothing has been made clear by his Ministry. PM Modi to review developments, calls CM | AGARTALA, April 22 (TIWN): With the era of five-year plans having ended on 31 March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Sunday consider a three-year immediate policy action plan and a 15-year-long term vision document at the governing council meeting of think tank Niti Aayog that will set new socio-economic goalposts for the nation. It was since the beginning that that Tripura CPI-M Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had been representing his cabinet against NITI Aayog, calling back Planning Commission constantly, although remained without any action. However, reportedly on April 23rd CM Manik Sarkar is going to attend NITI Aayog meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened a meeting of the NITI Aayog’s Governing Council, which comprises all Chief Ministers, senior Union ministers, administrators of Union Territories and Aayog members, to finalize a short-term Action Plan. The meeting was in the offing as the practice of Five-Year Plans ended after the term of 12th Five-year Plan (2012-17) expired on March 31. Pre-monsoon rain hits NE region : Tripur | AGRATLA, April 22 (TIWN): A constant rain has heavily disrupted Northeast India’s normal lives on the onset of summer. Whereas Capital Delhi is suffering heavily from 39 degree temperature, Tripura’s temperature downed to 26 degree. After constant rain for the whole day, the transport has been heavily disrupted across the hilly state Tripura. Same with the other NE states including Assam, Arunachal, Shillong. However thunderstorm accompanied with squall and hail was also experienced at isolated places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim. Heavy to very heavy rain observed at a few places with extremely heavy fall at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya., Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. The feeble western disturbance as an upper air cyclonic circulation over eastern parts of Jammu & Kashmir and neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level is moving away eastwards, that increased the chances of cyclone in next few hours. The upper air cyclonic circulation over south Pakistan & neighbourhood over northeast Arabian sea & adjoining Saurashtra & Kutch between 1.5 km and 3.1 Km above mean sea level persists.
