NH-44, along with alternative NHC collap | AGARTALA, June 13 (TIWN): Continuous downpour along with thunder storm lightning has collapsed NH 44 from rest of the state along with the alternative national highway (NHC) which was opened as an substitute route for the passage of the vehicles. But over a period of time it was seen that both the routes have turned into a death prone zone adding much more woes in travelling through NH44 and NHC for the common people.Although Assam Highway roads commissioner PC Bora with the initiative of BJP government at Assam along with others visited the NH 44 road between Lowerpoa to Churaebari (upto Tripura entrance) section and assured that they will take step for the renovation of NH44 and if required the NH44 will be kept closed and the alternative Highway will be opened for the movement of the vehicles.However, incessant rains over past few days have collapsed the NH44 along with the alternative highway route too.National highway 44 is one such road which gets worsened even for small rains. 400 gram brown sugar worth Rs. 30 lakhs | AGARTALA, June 12 (TIWN): 400 gram brown sugar was seized from a bus by 159th battalion BSF on Sunday afternoon at Dharmanagar ISBT area. The bus was travelling from Dharmanagar to Agartala. Reportedly, Brown sugar worth Rs. 30 lakhs was being shipped into the Capital City Agartala. BSF intelligence after getting informed, stopped the vehicle and nabbed the drug trafficker. Arrested drug trafficker has been identified as Giyas Uddin and presently kept in BSF camp at Dharmanagar Bishnupur Border area. BSF Jawans have also seized the vehicle with the number TR01B1458. However, BSF is going to handover him to Dharmanagar Police by evening, but before handing over they are keeping sample of the brown sugar for further investigation. BSF Jawans told media that before few days that, earlier at least 700 grams of brown sugar was also caught, but when via Dharmanagar Police Sation the brown sugar was sent to State Forensic laboratory, in laboratory test-result (????) it came out as rice powder(?) or wheat. CPI-M opposed IPFT’s Bandh : Stat | AGARTALA, June 12 (TIWN): CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar via a press meet on Sunday expressed CPI-M’s strong objection to IPFT’s June 22 strike for ‘Twipra land’. IPFT planning to halt the railways and road-ways service in Tripura in demand of a separate State. Addressing the press meet at Melarmath HQ, CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar said that, CPI-M never will support IPFT’s demand for a separate land diving Tripura, but the opposition parties are playing a cunning role in this sensitive issue. Opposition parties are silent in spite of of IPFT’s continuous demand for Twipra land and further instability with law & order, said Dhar. India begins work on bridge linking nort | AGARTALA, June 11 (TIWN / IANS): India started work on building a bridge over the Feni river in Tripura to ferry heavy machines and goods to and from the northeastern states and the rest of India via Bangladesh through the Chittagong international port, top official said here on Saturday. The Bangladesh government has earlier agreed to allow India to use the Chittagong port, about 72 km from Tripura's southern border town of Sabroom. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Premier Sheikh Hasina jointly laid the foundation stone of the bridge during the former's two-day visit to Dhaka on June 6-7, 2015.
