TSECL claims ‘NEEPCO’s shut | AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): Tripura’s endless saga of daily loadsheddings continue despite the tall claims of Power Minister Manik Dey and TSECL MD Shymal Roy. Tripura is suffering from acute power crisis as major cities like Udaipur, Kailashahar, Dharmanagar including capital Agartala reeling under severe loadsheddings from few hours to day long outages even though TSECL authorities confident about the claims of ‘Non-Stop’ power-supply across state. S K Roy, TSECL MD while talking to TIWN on Monday mentioned that although 101MW gas based NEEPCO Plant is presently undergoing shutdown (due to non-supply of ONGC gas), but it’s not affecting state’s power distribution. Asking about the severe load-sheddings across Tripura due to NEEPCO’s shutdown, S.K.Roy said, ‘There is not much load-shedding problem exists anymore in Tripura, although sometimes there are some load-shedding issues, but this has nothing to do with NEEPCO’s shut down. Express train can run on the tracks only | AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): Although it is claimed that BG Express train will run from June 16 with inauguration of the service by Union Railway Minister SureshPrabhu but uncertainty still looms large with railway tracks at the Haflong side due to the landslide.Talking to TIWN correspondent NFR Construction official Pratap singh said that although there is a possibility to run the train on 16 June but uncertainty looms large as landslides in the hills especially with the tracks crossing Haflong appears to be problematic for running the train.He also said that if the tracks are cleared the train will easily run on June 16.According to the sources, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to inaugurate express train named Subidha Special on June 16. The fully AC train with 19 coach will run for three days this month on 16, 23 and 30. The train will run between Agartala and Kolkata. However, now the wait for the express train begins.The train will leave from Kolkata Howrah station on every Tuesday and will reach Agartala on Thursday. A truck driver from Guwahati on the pretext of protesting against police blocked NH-44 for checking truck shipment documents. Outraged by Police behavior (due to checking or demanding bribes), this Guwahati truck driver positioned his truck in such a way that NH-44 remained blocked till midnight due to lack of timely police action. Due to this sudden rogue behavior by truck driver and police, more than 100 trucks were stranded till midnight, clashes began among other truck drivers and police followed by injury of 16 persons including police personnel. Yechury suggested that a mechanism should be introduced under which "state funding" of political parties is allowed and the fund is then distributed to all the political parties according to their numerical strength. Commenting on TV channels that show MLAs and others talking about alleged bribe money to influence upcoming elections in Karnataka, Yechury, however, said: "Corporates are welcome if they want to fund parties. But the contribution should be kept with the Election Commission." But the fact is no corporates, industrialists are ready to waste a single rupee in CPI-M's election funding. Bru refugees burnt and damaged atleast 26 local’s homes at Kanchanpur on May 15 causing flare-up of communual riot in Kanchanpur Hilles. Tripura Govt. reportedly after the incident, asked the Central govt. and Mizoram Govt. to take initiatives for Brus repatriation as it causing internal clashes.
