Massive fire in ONGC's poorly sealed Dr | SABROOM, June 24 (TIWN): A massive fire broke out in ONGC's sealed drilling site at Duimukhiya of Takka Tulsi Village under Powangbari Block of Sabroom Subdivision. It is learnt that the fire broke out all on a sudden this afternoon at 2pm but till at 9.30pm it was out of control, finally fire was doused at 10pm with the help of experts and fire fighters. Almost all the fire engines from Gomati and South Tripura districts dispatched to spot. Two more fire engines from Agartala have been called in the evening. Top level police officials as well as District administration is on high alert and out of safety measures people living at a radius of 1.5km of the place of occurrence have been evacuated. It is learnt that 5 sophisticated special fire engines of ONGC have already been sent to the spot. On Saturday a high level Technical team of experts of ONGC will arrive in Tripura and immediately they will rush to the spot. Tripura Govt. failed to cover Central Go | AGARTALA, June 24 (TIWN): Modi Govt’s important project ‘National De-worming progarmme’ launched in 2015 to benefit children by reducing the threat of parasitic worm infections, (a widespread health issue affecting the children allover India). Even though ‘De-worming progarmme’ was implemented in Tripura under the observation of Health Dept. Education Dept. and Social Welfare Dept. jointly but it failed to achieve coverage to 90% of school childrens. But after 2 rounds of De-worming effort in state Tripura could achieve only 79.97% of its target. Whereas in the year 2015 the coverage was a mere 64.96 %, in 2016 it progressed with only 79.97 %. But whereas the Education Director, Health Dept. Sudden crisis of petrol in the state with the blockade of the NH44 due to immovable condition of the road, common man are paying for it today. Almost all the petrol pumps of Agartala city along with the petrol pumps at the sub-divisions were found hanging ‘No Petrol’ board since last three days and most effectively on Thursday morning. Long queue was witnessed in front of the petrol pumps in the several petrol pumps of the state. Long queue of people were found waiting with their motorcycles in front of the petrol pump in the vicinity of Agartala. Meanwhile, petrol crisis has hit the state capital and sub divisional headquarters. Motor cycle users of the city have been facing an unprecedented crisis following the unavailability of fuel in most of the petrol pumps, catering to the requirement of motorists of the city and its surrounding areas. According to the petrol pump dealers, already due to NH-44’s pathetic condition, petrol pumps were facing acute petrol crisis, but after the NH-44 blockade called by IPFT, all the petrol pumps in Agartala left dry. The fuel crisis which has emerged in state due to IPFT’s 24 hour long strike, has disrupted normal lives here. As fuel that comes to the state from Assam has been disrupted due to the continuous blockade of National Highway 44 since last 24 hours and the stock of petroleum products of the state has been over, said a petrol pump dealer. The demand of petrol and diesel both went up in black market since the morning.Apart from the IPFT strike, the ongoing National Highway problem is affecting Tripura’s economy, creating crisis within the state but the Govt. is less concerned about it. On the one hand Howrah river water is worsening and instead of taking measure to maintain cleanliness of the River Howrah, Minister Ratan Bhowmik and Minister Manik Dey on Wednesday visited several places of Agartala city to take a note of the status of the construction of water treatment of plant at Deenadayal, pratapgarh, MB Tilla and other areas. Instead of taking initiatives to control the rising pollution, the life line of the capital is yet in a pitiable condition with garbage in various parts of the river banks. Even though the State Government has taken initiatives to provide sanitation facility to the families resided on the river bank to keep the river clean yet the pollution of the river is worsening day by day.
