AGARTALA, June 13 (TIWN): Tripura's Indo-Bangla border turning sensitive due to Bangladesh Govt's week-long clampdown on dismantling all terrorist outfits and their networks in the country. Bangladesh police have detained over 5,000 persons, including many belonging to Islamist parties, ISIS terrorists in the first two days of an ongoing week-long nationwide anti-militant crackdown which began on Friday.Tripura is suffering from poor police intelligence network which causing rising cross-border smuggling, border violence incidents. Tripura's Sonamura has turned into a den for Islamic terrorists and smugglers as Police failed to control the massive Islamic fundamentalist network, organized tea-garden style ganja cultivation in Sonamura-Boxnagar region. Sepahijala District Magistrate(DM) Pradip Chakaraborty while talkig to TIWN mentioned that still 9.5 km are yet unfenced in Sonamura border.Illegal intrusion and smugglings are rampant due to the Indo-Bangla unfenced border as the border fencing work has almost stopped and going at snail’s pace along Sonamura.
Sonamura area has become the corridor for all kinds of mafias and the place has become a pious-land for extremists.
Islamic fundamentalists are in huge numbers at Sonamura, and spike of cross-border smuggling at all time high.
As per sources, since 2 to 3 months there was no progress of Border fencing work on Indo-Bangla border. Asking the DM about the reports regarding border fencing works, he said, “another 9.5 km areas are left unfenced, however, Administrative is trying to finish it soon”.
Sonamura subdivision has become the centre for all ISIS intrusions in state Tripura, which is increasing the terror among the common public here. Reportedly, Sonamura subdivision is the centre for all illegal activities, which has become as a threat for the safety of common mass here.
However, all these becoming threats to State's security, reportedly, few international terrorist groups are trying to establish base in Tripura to run huge narcotics empire.
