Police Firing : 12 hours ‘bandhâ | AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): As after four days of Jirania Police firing incident which left 6 youths injured, no action was taken against police, rather fabricated cases were imposed on Tiprasa agitators who protesting against Citizenship Bill on the National Highway at Madhabbari in Jirania ended by police firing, INPT and regional parties have been observing 12 hours strike at ADC area today. Police Firing : Indigenous people calls | AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): In demand of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s resignation, indigenous people backed by regional parties have gone in 12 hours strike on Friday. Total 6 regional parties have backed the strike led by INPT and it was said that this is the initial protest whereas in coming days the protest will be in much bigger form. The strike was called basically with four demands 1) Biplab Deb’s resignation from Chief Ministry and Home Ministry, 2) Compensation of 25 lakhs or Govt jobs to the police firing victims, 3) Removal of all fabricated cases filed against agitators of Citizenship bill, 4) Judicial investigation in Jirania violence. After 48 hrs of Police Firing at Jirania | AGARTALA / JIRANIA, Jan 10 (TIWN): Temporary relief for Biplab Deb Govt as BJP Govt’s ally IPFT after 48 hours of Jirania police firing incident has supported the BJP-IPFT Govt and didn’t withdraw support from BJP Govt demanding investigation in the issue. A statement in this regard was given by Tribal Welfare Department Minister (from IPFT) Mebar Jamatia. He said, “Earlier we had staged many demonstrations. For long 11 days, IPFT had blocked National Highway too with similar protests, but why did the firing was done? I have asked the Govt for proper investigation and want to know who ordered the firing. However, we are waiting for the inquiry to be completed within 1 month.
