Tripura cabinet hikes wage for pensioner | AGARTALA, May 23 (TIWN): On yet another pay hike bonanza for the pensioners of the retired govt. employees, Tripura cabinet held meeting on Friday at the secretariat decided to hike the pension wages to 40 percent from the existing pay. Besides the cabinet had also decided to pay special booster wages to the retired employees who have crossed 80 years.Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat after the cabinet meeting State Minister for Finance Bhanulal Saha said that the state govt. on Friday has decided to hike the wages of pensioners to 40 percent. He said, “The state govt. employees who are retired before the year 2006 would be brought under the central pay scale bonanza with 40 percent hike in their pension.â€The cabinet meeting held on Friday had also decided to give special booster to the retired employees who had already crossed their 80 years of age.Saha said, “30 percent pension wage is hiked for who are 86 years old, 41 percent for 91 years old pensioners, 50 percent for 96 years old and 100% for who have crossed 100 years of their age.†Their wages are being hiked from the existing and for who had retired from their service before the year 2006, Saha said.Earlier the wages were hiked to 10 percent for all the retired persons with no age bar.Besides, the cabinet on Friday had also decided that the ration card holders would get 1 kg of sugar per individual residing under Municipal Corporation from the ration shops, Saha told to newsmen after the cabinet meeting. | 22-May-2015 |

Power crisis hits state: TSECL to receiv | AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): In a major embarrassment to the Central Government’s efforts to develop infrastructure in the northeastern region, the Palatana power project in Tripura, inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narnedra Modi, has run into serious problems. Asked about the Palatana power production, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (TSECL) Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) S K Roy said, “As both the units at Palatana OTPC are unable to run at a time, the power production is less, because when Unit I starts its generation another has to be shut down.†At Rukhia power generation plant, power production appears normal with around 60 generating there. It is now obvious that Tripura is going to be hit badly by power crisis for another month as a result the state would face worsen load shedding situation this summer which has brought a scorching heat to hit the daily normal life of the people of the state. Talking to TIWN on Friday Roy said, “Recently our Barmura Gas thermal power project is facing heavy scarcity of gas from ONGC.†Adding to that Roy said that ONGC has assured TSECL to increase their gas supply within next two months.Scarcity of natural gas has been affecting the normal power generation at Barmura Gas Thermal Power Project in Teliamura subdivision. ONGC deepens gas explorations in Tripur | AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): On yet another historical momentum for the Tripura Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) Asset, a successful Hydro-fracturing process has been carried recently at Khubal in Unakoti district by ONGC to know the actual gas reserve. Talking to TIWN on Friday ONGC Director Onshore V P Mahawar over telephone from Delhi said, “The gas reserve at Khubal has been found to be in a very good position after the ONGC successfully conducted hydro fracturing there.†First time in the history of state’s exploration drive, the ONGC Asset here in Tripura has successfully carried out hydro fracturing at Khubal ensuring sufficient gas reserve there under Unakoti District. Mahawar said that the ONGC have to now wait for some days to know the result of the hydro-fracturing process. With an aim to set up fertilizer manufacturing plant ONGC has also planned to carry hydro fracturing in some more areas at Khubal. “ONGC plans to undertake hydro-fracturing process in two more wells at Khubal to check the actual gas reserve,†adding Mahawar said, “If the gas reserve is good, then the fertilizer manufacturing plant would certainly gain groundâ€, he said. With 800 acres of land allotted to set up a Rs. 5000-crore Urea fertiliser plant at Khobal in Unakoti district of Tripura, ONGC is keeping eye to set up the project soon as it has already undertaken hydro fracturing at Khubal and it has been successful so far. | 22-May-2015 |

Sources in the AMC says that the posts of Ward Secretaries were not getting the approval of the AMC commissioner for long as none of the previous commissioners were able to take the risk of facing the High Court as they reportedly found the complete recruitment process as unethical.
