AGARTALA, May 21 (TIWN): In a fresh initiative to present Tripura in the front figure of the world, NFR Railway planning to open a new railway division based at Tripura. But still now confusion brewing about choosing the right place in Silchar (Assam) or Tripura. It is to be mentioned that broad gauge line was already started Lumbding-Silchar Route. According to NF Railway authorities, by 2016, it would extend further to Agartala and within March 2016, Udaipur to be on Railway map. Further broadgage line will connect Sabroom within two years. The supporters who are in favour of Tripura made statement that; it is not possible to operate both Agartala and Silchar from Lumbding division. Still now there are five railway divisions- 3 are at Assam, others are at Bihar and West Bengal. The authorities of Maligaon Railway division told that for the construction of railway division, minimum four hundred and half or 500 hectares of land is required which is essential to build the office of the General Manger, controlling room , staff headquarter and other essential things. The BG conversion work from Karimganj to Agartala likely to start from October 1. Earlier, the first broad-gauge engine had knocked the door of the people of Silchar on March 13. commissioning of laying and constructing of Broad Gauge (BG) railway tracks of Mega Block for Agartala to Sabroom will start from March 2018.

However, question could be raised on sanctioning of fund for Metre Gauge (MG) prior to it on 2008/09 Financial Year, on why government has accepted on this pact then, if the Centre had different plans to lay BG connection in state’s railway.
This is a jargon for many citizens transporting in the state due to a halt in railway connectivity in between on which depended livelihoods of a chunk of populace in Tripura’s railway stations.
