AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): At a discussion meet of cultural committee of Gomati Zilla Parishad, Existing Committee president Tarun Pal enhance about the working process of Handloom, Handicraft and Silk Department, said sources.
According to the report, under PMIGP project 176 unemployed youth are provided with rupees 5.50 crore loan from various bank in the financial year 2014-15. On the other hand, a total of rupees 23.78 lakhs of loans are provided to 236 people under various scheme.
Further, representative of Sericulture Department confirmed that spending rupees 58.91 lakh, 687 beneficiaries have cultivated indigo over 253.9 acres of land, said sources. Altogether 655 beneficiaries are brought under the scheme of indigo cultivation over 266.3 acre of land. On the other hand, a total of 1281.200 Kg of ‘A’ grade quality, 1151.300 Kg of ‘B’ grade quality and 857.350 Kg ‘C’ grade quality cotton was cultivated. The market rate of the cotton is rupees 8.49 lakh. Altogether 253.500 Kg of thread was cultivated and the market rate of the thread was rupees 8.53 lakh.
However, it was further said that spending 33.75 lakh, homes was built for 44 numbers of families.
