KAMALPUR, June 4 (TIWN): The long practised and long cherished habit of encroaching footpaths always left the pedestrians in utter distress. And in every case, the silence of the authority for political concerns encouraged those illegal encroachers.
The same thing continued to happen at Ambassa. In the market area and at the possible places, some people used to set their temporary stands to sell vegetables. In those places there remained a board of Municipal Council prohibiting such encroachments.
But, none bother to give importance to such rulings. And those illegal encroachers happily continued their business. As a result, the pedestrians had to walk on the road with a possibility of being run over by vehicles or collision.
The matter not remained something hidden and the authority and the elected members used to witness those sights every day. But no remedy got adopted still. The authority might evacuate the footpath or might make separate arrangement for those sellers.
But, as all the people had the power of single vote, so why one should be disturbed until it not crossed limit- possibly the authority had the same attitude of watch and watch only.
