Tripura, North East Industrial sectors h | AGARTALA / GUWAHATI, March 1 (TIWN): In spite of blind opposition of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's 2016-17 Union budget, all the industrial bodies across the nation hailed this budget as industry friendly. Industry bodies of Assam, Tripura and northeast termed the union budget 2016-17 presented on Monday as a good one based on realistic projection and said it was prepared while keeping in mind the need of all sectors of society in general and particularly the rural, farming sector and the people living below the poverty level.FICCI North East Advisory Council chairman Ranjit Borthakur said that the budget reflects the development priorities of the country. "The focus on rural development, agriculture and infrastructure will have a multiplier effect in other segments of the economy; the increased focus on affordable housing also has the potential to propel growth. Attempts towards tax simplification and improving the tax litigation framework are also welcome," he said."Talking specifically of the northeast, we hope infrastructure requirements of the northeast will figure prominently in the increased infrastructure spend by the government, particularly we hope the issue of development of inland waterways, northeast ring road and connectivity with neighbouring countries will be addressed. | 01-Mar-2016 |
Union Budget announced Rs. 2.80 lakh cro | AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN) : Modi Govt initiated crores of investment in various projects in its 3rd Union Budget amongst which the Transport System focused to a great extent. Arun Jaitley’s announcements have given a ray of hope for the people of Tripura as the road-ways here are terrible till day. Although with the Modi Govt.’s initiative few development has come in North Eastern zone with railway, but the road-way yet to be developed a lot here. To connect the whole India with greater connectivity Jaitly announced 2.80 lakh crores for the transport system amongst which Rs. 97,000 Crores are investing for roadways, whereas total 2,18 000 crore for railways.Expansion of cargo trains has been taken as a challenge to improve the economy of the country by increasing importing and exporting facilities within various states. However altogether the total rural sector allocation Rs. 87,769 crore, among which the transport will cover a part.In total 70,000 road projects are in hand and 85% of that is completed.It’ is to be mentioned that pathetic condition of NH-44 since decades is still unchanged due to the poor quality of renovation work by State PWD Dept.
