AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN): A four-day long Authors Illustrators workshop on Kokborok language has been organized on Tuesday at the Agartala Centre of National Book Trust of India.
The initiative has been taken with main focus on Kokborok language. With an aim to popularise the official language of the State, National Book Trust has taken this initiatives for the first time in Tripura.
According to the reports, the Kokborok language is in existence for several years. However, in the year 1979 the Kokborok was first recognised as the official language of Tipra.
The National Book Trust of India has been established in the year 1957 by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development.
The Trust was open with the objectives to encourage innovative and good writers and also the Indian languages.
National Book Trust of India plays an important role in promoting books and the habit of reading by organizing book fairs and exhibitions throughout the country since the last five decades.
It has been mentioned that the initiatives has been taken to encourage the writers and illustrators for creative and innovative creation in Kokborok.
Besides, earlier in a press meet it has mentioned that the NBT is trying to make the books for the children attractive so that the children should find it interesting to read.
During the programme, author and illustrators namely Rabindra Kishore Debbarma, Haripada Debbarma, Sefali Debbarma, Snehamoy Roy Chowdhury, Bipin Debbarma, Pushpal Deb, Partha Pratim Ganguly and many other were also present at the programme.
