AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN) : Modi Govt initiated crores of investment in various projects in its 3rd Union Budget amongst which the Transport System focused to a great extent. Arun Jaitley’s announcements have given a ray of hope for the people of Tripura as the road-ways here are terrible till day. Although with the Modi Govt.’s initiative few development has come in North Eastern zone with railway, but the road-way yet to be developed a lot here. To connect the whole India with greater connectivity Jaitly announced 2.80 lakh crores for the transport system amongst which Rs. 97,000 Crores are investing for roadways, whereas total 2,18 000 crore for railways.Expansion of cargo trains has been taken as a challenge to improve the economy of the country by increasing importing and exporting facilities within various states. However altogether the total rural sector allocation Rs. 87,769 crore, among which the transport will cover a part.In total 70,000 road projects are in hand and 85% of that is completed. It’ is to be mentioned that pathetic condition of NH-44 since decades is still unchanged due to the poor quality of renovation work by State PWD Dept. But still the NH-44, the life line of Tripura’s transport system, suffers from lack of quality construction work by State Govt.

In case of Rail, it can be said that Tripura already has been blessed with Modi Govt.’s 'act east' policy fo developing NE infrastructure.

After Tripura' s broad gauge rail, now other North Eastern parts as Mizoram and Manipur will be benefitted from infrastructure projects.

CPI-M backed UPA-1 and UPA-2 Central Govt headed by Congress always neglected Tripura and CPI-M couldn't bring BG rail or standard roadways funding from Centre in past 22 yrs.
