Despite all the pleas and advertisement to the state people, the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) is paying no attention to prevent the air and noise pollution in the capital city- Agartala. Though the Pollution Control Board earlier introduced many Acts on pollution control but the board is unable to cope up with the rising environment pollution. According to the sources, air pollution increasing alarmingly in the city day by day as some of the contractors under Public Works Department (PWD) are burning bitumen in daylight for constructing roads in several places disobeying the rules. As a result common people of the state are facing worst situation. But allegedly the TSPCB and concerned department is not taking necessary steps to control the air pollution. Modi Govt’s ‘act east†| AGARTALA / GUWAHATI, March 13 (TIWN): Narendra Modi led central govt. to soon launch a mechanism under which various developmental projects in the northeastern states could be monitored through satellite images, it was announced on Saturday. "The satellite images using space technology can be effectively used for planning and evaluating the progress of various developmental projects in the north eastern states," Minister of State for Development of Northeastern Region Jitendra Singh said at a departmental meeting. "Considering the fact that the department of space already has one of its establishments in Shillong.. this should not be a difficult proposition," he said. CPI-M in Tripura wants members to be mo | AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN / IANS): A two-day special meeting of Tripura's ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist began here on Saturday to make members "more ideologically acquainted". "The purpose of the special meeting of CPI-M Tripura unit is to make the party members and local leaders more ideologically acquainted. This is more important for those who entered the party in recent years," CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar told reporters. The closed-door meeting, in which 400 delegates are taking part, would lead to "a precise action plan", he said. The decision to hold the meeting was taken at Kolkata plenum held on December 27-31 last year. Tripura Chief Minister and CPI-M politburo member Manik Sarkar, party's all seven central committee members from the state, and other senior leaders would address the meet. Two ATM kiosks ransacked, forked-out SBI | AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): On yet another daring robbery, one ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) was ransacked by unidentified miscreants at Sevak Sangha and MB Tilla area. However, no arrest has been in connection to the incident, police said. According to the police the incident took place on Friday mid-night right near AD Nagar Police Station. Some unidentified looters managed to ransack the ATM machine. However, the ATM belongs to the SBI and AXIS bank, said police.Asked about development of the case, police said the AD Nagar police team is currently conducting a raid in and around the area to trace out the ATM machine. The security of Agartala city has once again come under serious threat as the State Bank of India's ATM counter installed at Sevak Sangha area and AXIS bank ATM under AD Nagar police station, has been ransacked by some unidentified robbers on Friday late night. Even after hours of this incident police is in complete darkness about the said incident. Chambal Fertilizers runs into major fund | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 11 (TIWN): Tripura’s proposed Rs 5000 crores Urea Plant most likely will never see the light of the day as company is running under heavy cash crunch and begging banks for their existing operations. As per latest reports, Chambal Fertilisers will raise Rs 1,057 crore loan from SBI and Axis to establish new urea unit at its existing plant in Kota, Rajasthan. Besides, the company will also avail a Rs 300 crore bank guarantee from State Bank of India. In a regulatory filing, Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals Ltd today said it has executed a loan agreement with SBI for term loan of Rs 500 crore and with Axis Bank for term loan of Rs 557.85 crore. Even though Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar tried his best to impress upon PM Modi to help getting Central environment clearance, Central fund for establishing infrastructure during PM’s Tripura visit on December 1st, but Central Govt is still non-committal about infrastructure fundings, environmental clearance for this project. Countdown begins for the historic moment | AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): State is all set to be a part of grand historic moment when Tripura will become the third internet gateway after Mumbai and Chennai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate 100 mw power supplies by remote control from Tripura’s Palatana project to Bangladesh on March 23. On the same day Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would provide 10 GB Internet bandwidth to Tripura. There would not be any formal function in the state to mark the occasion as the entire programme would be held through video-conferencing. However, once the internet bandwidth is inaugurated, Agartala, Tripura's capital city, would be the third international internet gateway in India after Mumbai and Chennai. It is to be mentioned here that the agreement for the internet bandwidth was initially signed for the tenure of four years.
