AGARTALA, June 25 (TIWN): During the State level review meeting held at Pragna Bhawan on Saturday, regarding the implementation of schemes of Social Welfare & Social Education department controversy raised against the monitoring capacity of Tripura Social Welfare Dept. and the Social Education Dept.
As every year funds embezzlememt issues come out, from Tripura’s various Govt. departments so the central Govt. is directly sending the stipends to the students and directly the students are benefiting with honourium rather than via Social Welfare Departments. Central Govt. however also trying to do all the transactions directly to accounts of the beneficiaries in case of Govt. employees salaries too.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar lead the review meeting at Pragna Bhawan on Saturday. The meeting also discussed about various schemes under rural development, money transaction and also the overall achievement of Social Welfare Dept. and the expenditure for this running year. Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath, Chief Secretary Y P Sing, Principal Secretary for Health Dept. M Nagaraju held their views and presented reports on Dept.’s achievement.
It’s to be mentioned here that the performance of Social Welfare Dept. is not at all satisfactory, which was disclosed one day before in Pragna Bhawan during Deworming Day-2016. This issue of the performance of various Anganwadi centers were also discussed during the meeting.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also asked the Govt. officials to look after the fund utilization and take care of money transaction.
Under Tripura Social Welfare and Social Education Dept. under Minister Bijita Nath Tripura Rural areas students are victim of various kinds of ailments and lack of nutrition. Although central Govt. is flowing funds for Primary and Upper primary Education especially for mid-day-meal but Tripura Anganwadi centers and schools have failed to provide nutritious meal for their students.
Mid-day-meal corruption which hits the state Education Dept. and Social Welfare dept. in gap of few days has left rural schools children under severe disease threats. Tripura Rural and ADC areas students are suffering hugely from various ailments, lack of nutrition etc.
