CPI (M) creating terror ahead of electio | AGARTALA, March 13 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Unit to kick-off a movement on March 13 across the state protesting the brutal attack on the BJP workers during their membership drives that took place recently at two consecutive places. However condemning the incident BJP State President Sudhindra Das Gupta on Thrusday evening said that since after the conclusion of the 3-tier Panchayat election the CPI (M) has kick started their terror activities across the state to divert the people of the state from joining the BJP. SIS Prosegur service van theft : Police | UDAIPUR, March 12 (TIWN): The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on Thrusday sent another two accused persons to 2 days jail Custody (JC) on cash robbery case from SIS Prosegur Service Van. The two accused are two ATM Custodian Suman Dutta and Alok kar. Police earlier detained them and kept them at the police station without any official arrest but later today they were produced before the court. Silchar to get first Broad-Gauge Engine | AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): The dream of the broad gauge train in Tripura seems to be not so far. The first broad-gauge engine will knock the door of the people of Silchar on March 13. After that on March 16, an experimental boggy train will move from Silchar to Patharkhola under Nayagao district. This special train will not carry any passengers- says the authorities of North Eastern Frontier Railways (NFR). On the trial run, the General Manager of NFR, Railway officials and media persons will be present. It is to be mentioned that the General Manager will arrive at Silchar to experience the first hand experience of the journey. NFR authorities further informed that the delegations on their way will inaugurate the newly constructed Badarpur railway station. In the meantime, the line set up of Silchar-Lumbding-Badarpur was completed. Now, the work of foot bridge construction, Station and renovation of the existing parts. Opposition reacts sharply on AMC tax-fre | AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) proposed a Budget of Rs. 348.00 crore with a bearable deficit of Rs. 56 lakh for the year 2015-16 recently, and the opposition reacting sharp on it today described the 2015-16 AMC budget as an aimless budget. Talking to TIWN today Congress Councilor Tushar Bhattacharjee said “AMC Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha comes up every time with a tax-free budget, but this budget has only deprived the common masses.â€Pointing out, Bhattacharjee said that the AMC has not laid any priority to the drinking water crisis and the quality of the water yet today that has lead to several water borne diseases. Adding to that he said, the leakage of the ground water pipeline and its worst condition is far behind from its maintenance. Scam of 33 Panchayats under different bl | AGARTALA,March 12 (TIWN): Scam of 33 Panchayats was registered under 58 blocks in the recent consecutive years. Though the State Government claims their tenure as corruption free, the recent statistics point that Govt's position is incorrect. In the year 2012- the number of scams registered is 15, in 2013, it is 11 and in the year 2014, it is 7.Among the audit of the blocks, only 5 blocks had completed their process. But amongst the audit of these blocks, some irregularities observed and based on the special audit the scams of three blocks namely Bishalgarh, Pecharthal, Rupaichari had been conducted. Monarchak Gas turbine synchronized with | AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): Gas turbine of the power plant situated at Monarchak under Sonamura Sub Division synchronized successfully on Tuesday with the generation of 9 MW of power on its initial stage. The turbine was made run precisely for 25 minutes. However the machine is now all set to take the load, said NEEPCO General Manager (GM) and Project Head S R Biswas. Talking to TIWN today NEEPCO GM said that on Tuesday the Monarchak 65 MW Gas turbine was synchronized generating at least 9 MW of power in its initial stage. He said that the system is now ready to take the full load. “We can start our further activities for the commercial generation of power from the gas based thermal power plant only if the ONGC commit us to give the full capacity gas,†Biswas said that on Tuesday the no problem was found with the gas as well as with the machine as of now.It may be recalled here that the ONGC had already charged gas into the 10 km pipeline from Khedabari - Sonamura GCS, to its Gas Metering Terminal at NEEPCO –Monarchak. | 12-Mar-2015 |

1 lakh 94 thousand fake currency notes r | AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): A total of 1 lakh 94 thousand fake currency notes had been recovered from the small hilly State, Tripura in the two consecutive financial years. It is to be mentioned that in recent few years, Tripura is gradually developing as the hub for fake Indian currency. The unfenced area in the Indo- Bangladesh border rooted out to be the proper cause for the delivery of these fake currency notes.Besides Bangladesh, illegal persons from Pakistan is smuggling these fake notes to Tripura via Bangladesh through Sonamura, Khowai, Kailashahar and Sadar subÂdivision. The sources further added that Pakistan is giving a commission of 30 to 40 percentages to the fake note dealers. Pakistan is also providing these fake Indian notes to the dealers in exchange of supplying narcotics products. It is to be mentioned here that a consignment of forged Indian currency notes of Rs 2 crore was recovered at Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, here this month. And in this connection five men were arrested. In the rural areas of Tripura, Fake Indian currency has spread throughout the markets of remote tribal areas in Kumarghat and Longtorai Valley subdivision. Rs 13 lakh robbery from SIS-Prosegur van | UDAIPUR, March 11 (TIWN): IG (Law & Order) Anurag Dhyankar and DIG Southern Range Uttam Kumar Majumder rushed to Udaipur to look into the mysterious robbery of Rs 13 lakh from Security Intelligence Service (SIS) Prosegur Van AS0IFC-1264 in broad day light near the Kiran Petroleum Agency's filling station. On Tuesday Rs 13 lakh was found missing from the SIS -Prosegur van that was supposed to be inserted in the United Bank of India's ATM counter located at Chhanban . The incident took place at around 12.30pm but till 10pm no arrest was made as police looked to be clueless. SDPO Ratan Kumar Das told the press at 9.30pm ," Till now no arrest is made. But we ate interrogating two contingency staffs of SIS namely Suman Dhar, Alak Kar , the security guard Santosh Chakraborty and the driver of the SIS-Prosegur Van Subhash Majumder. However, nothing is yet revealed." After the work of mega block started, National Highway and the airlines are the major way to connect with the other remotest places. But the Public works Department has not progressed much of maintenance of NH-44. Besides that there are many dug and holes which lead to frequent accidents almost every day. Now. When the proposal for double lane is setting in up in air, present condition will definitely put a question mark on the construction. As per Tripura Govt, Border Road Organization(BRO) had completed half of the maintenance work from Churaibari to Khasiabari (24 km) and Mungiakami to Agartala (60km). Apart from this from Churaibari-Agartala (318.00 km), only 104 km were under the PWD Department. The Department had successfully installed area of 4 km at an estimate of 9.122 crore rupees. The incident took place at around 12.30pm but till 10pm no arrest was made as police looked to be clueless. SDPO Ratan Kumar Das told the press at 9.30pm ," Till now no arrest is made. But we ate interrogating two contingency staffs of SIS namely Suman Dhar, Alak Kar , the security guard Santosh Chakraborty and the driver of the SIS-Prosegur Van Subhash Majumder. However, nothing is yet revealed." IG (L&O) Anurag Dhyankar, DIG Southern Range Uttam Kumar Bhowmik, Addl SP Gomati Tapan Debbarma, SDPO Udaipur Ratan Kumar Das and others were busy in finding any clue regarding this mysterious robbery.
