Railways to connect all northeastern sta | AGARTALA /SILCHAR (Assam), March 16 (TIWN / IANS): The railways hope to connect all the eight states in India's northeast by 2020. "We would connect all the states of the eight states by rail within 2020," Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) general manager Rakesh Kumar Singh told the media in Silchar.Mizoram's capital Aizawl and Manipur's capital Imphal would be connected by railway network by 2018 and 2019 respectively. "The capitals of the remaining states would be linked by 2020. Work is on to achieve the target," he said.Tripura's capital Agartala is already connected by rail though the line between Silchar (Assam) and Agartala is meter gauge.Agartala came up on the country's rail map in 2008. Illegal trading by brokers prevails in T | AGARTALA, March 16 (TIWN): Securities and Exchange Board of India has recently directed all the states and the union territories to constitute State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) to keep an eye on the issues relating to the financial system, issues of fund raising by various entities and to ensure coordination between various regulators and state governments. Besides, the committee is also made responsibility to investigate into the complaints including ‘collective investment schemes’, while the SEBI will take up the matter if any company is found to have collected more than Rs. 100 crore during the investigation.A meeting was held recently at Mumbai SEBI Bhawan where SEBI Chairman U.K. Sinha has directed all the states including Tripura to constitute SLCC to deal with the financial system of the state. 65,000 phensedyl bottles seized from Bod | AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): Acting on a tip off today Superintendent of Custom M. Banik seized at least 65, 000 bottles of phensedyl from Bodhjongnagar. The phensedyl bottles were seized from a truck bearing number RJ-14 GF-9132, while it was unloading the illegal items probably to smuggle to neighbouring country Bangladesh.The custom department today based on secret information intercepted a lorry near Bodhjongnagar MK Cement factory seized 65, 000 of Phensedyl bottles today. The seized consignment of cough syrup is worth more than Rs. 1 crore in local market. Today, most of the rural people in the so called developing Tripura don't have access to it. However but it is mentionable here that Minister Tapan Chakroborty on March 11 at Gournagar Block under Unakoti district stated that the tankers will be deployed soon to supply water to the villagers. Minister also urged the concerned administration to create water bodies as soon as possible so that the villagers can make an easy access to it. Tripura's broad gauge dream runs high: B | AGARTALA / SILCHAR, March 15 (TIWN): After the successful BG(broad gauge) trial run of a diesel engine from Lumding to Silchar on Friday the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working hard to bring Agartala under the country’s Broad Gauge Network by March 2016. After the introduction of the BG facility one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State Tripura in eight hours.If NFR sticks to its project schedule, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed by March 2016. But this mass transfer of teachers payed no benefit for the schools on Autonomous District Council area. School education Department sources further informed in the coming days, 300-500 teachers were also going to be transferred. It is to be mention that, the appointment of teachers in the year 2010, 2012 and 2015 fails to reduce the shortage of teachers in the schools.The 1st phase of transfer of teachers estimates to 2015 persons, and in the second phase, it estimates to 2985 persons. But in case of ADC areas, only 56 persons were employed. State Government’s decision of mass teachers transfer in the previous year has not completed till now. SIS Prosegur Rs 13 Lakhs theft case : 4 | UDAIPUR, March 14 (TIWN): The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on Friday sent the four accused persons to 4 days police remand on cash robbery case from SIS Prosegur Service Van. The four accused are two ATM Custodians Suman Dutta and Alok kar, Subhashish Majumder (driver of the SIS Prosegur van), and the other Santosh kumar Chakroborty (security guard).However all the four accused persons will be produced before the court again on March 17. The police on Friday demanded for 5 days police remand for the accused persons. Nayak and officials of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) in presence of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at civil secretariat, here today.The total sanctioned cost of the project for Tripura is Rs. 1372.20 crore funded by World Bank, Government of India and Government of Tripura, state government officials said. Under this project, power transmission and distribution and transmission sub-stations would be modernized.“The World Bank aided infrastructure development project in the power sector would begin in the forthcoming fiscal year (2015-16),†an official added. World Bank aid for power projects in nor | AGARTALA, March 13 (TIWN / IANS) The World Bank would provide the major share of a Rs.5,111 crore project to develop and expand infrastructure in the power sector in six north-eastern states, top officials said here on Friday.State-owned Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) would execute the World Bank-aided projects in six of the eight north-eastern states of India."The World Bank-aided 'North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project' would be implemented in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura at a cost of Rs.5,111 crore," PGCIL chairman-cum-managing director R.N. Nayak told reporters.He said: "Of the Rs.5,111 crore, 50 percent would be provided by World Bank as a soft loan and the remaining amount would be shared by the central government and the concerned states. The central government funding would be as a grant."Of the Rs.5,111 crore, Assam would get the highest share of Rs.1,473.80 crore followed by Tripura (Rs.1,372.20 crore), Meghalaya (Rs.776.93 crore), Nagaland (Rs.729.42 crore), Manipur (Rs.442.22 crore) and Mizoram (Rs.316.76 crore). | 13-Mar-2015 |

TSR Jawan mysteriously killed in Atharob | UDAIPUR / KILLA, March 13 (TIWN): In a quite mysterious way a TSR Jawan was killed in Atharobhola under Killa Police Station in Udaipur Sub Division. The incident took place at around 1.15pm to 1.30pm on Thursday near Gungrai , around 12km out skirts of Udaipur . Till Thursday midnight police seemed to be clueless about the identification of the culprits. A police official in Killa Police Station told this correspondent over phone ," Till now the miscreants have not been identified and no arrest has been made. However, a case will be registered by tonight and and the investigation is going on." It is learnt that the TSR Jawan Manik Roy(42), S/O- Khirod Mohan Roy of Amtali in Agartala was shot from a 9mm revolver on the main road leading to Gungrai to Atharobhola this noon. Pakistan’s ISI trying to dismant | AGARTALA, March 13 (TIWN): Pakistan’s ISI is trying to dismantle the unity among the people of North-East region, said Chief Minister Manik Sarkar after inaugurating the nine-day long programme named ‘Natya Samagama’, festival of contemporary theatre practice, traditions and diverse cultural expressions of India at Nazrul Kalakshetra, here on Thrusday. ''Our misguided youths are being trained as militants inside Bangladesh with the help of ISI,’’ Sarkar claimed, adding that the ISI has been working against India, especially in the North East long before India liberated Bangladesh from East Pakistan. The main aim of ISI is to bleed India, Sarkar added.Manik Sarkar further said that ISI of Pakistan is aiding terror activities in India by providing shelter, training, patronage and financial assistance to terrorists.
