AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): The open market which is held in every Tuesday at Damchara, under North Tripura along Tripura Mizoram Border turned out a smuggler den at North Tripura. The Damchara market is specially held for Tribals, also for local Bengalis where Mizoram businessmen arrive to sell goods to the public. Especially, Tripura public and the Mizors from border areas trade in market. Since years,this market is functioning as the corridor for all illegal businesses from fake-currency operations, selling openly drugs, phensedyl to the customers. Heroin, Brown Sugar, Ganja and other contrabands are easily available in shops. These massive smuggling have turned North Tripura as the hub for smuggling. Using Longai River bridge smugglers are entering Tripura everyday in broad day light, but the authorities are least concerned about it. Without any pass or checking the businessmen are entering in Tripura. Taking this opportunity the businessmen are running illegal business as per their wishes.SP North Manik Lal Das talking to TIWN over phone he said, ‘Police in North Tripura is trying its best to curtail the drug business across Tripura-Mizoram borderâ€
But being the border area at Mizoram,neighboring Assam the business is growing at rapid face.
SP said that just before few days, North Tripura police held 3 young boys from Mujaffar Nagar area among them 2 were from Mizoram and 1 was from North-Tripura.
About the increasing brown-sugar business via train and Longai river bridge he said that, “The economic condition of these areas are not so high that young people can buy brown sugar.
'The demand of brown sugar is not high in Tripura due to its cost. Some other material are in those drugs and then these are supplied for Tripura, and sell them in much cheaper price”, said SP.
However, Tribal dominating areas under North Tripura are running much more actively in illegal items which damaging the generation here fully. The Longai river bridge is joining Tripura with all kinds of illegal business increasing in Tripura.
