KAMALPUR, Aug 6 (TIWN): The tussle between the Bank authority and the customers regarding the daily collection limit of micro-savings scheme took a new turn here at Kamalpur. The members of Manikbhandar Merchant Association gheraod the Branch Manager and ultimately demanded of early remedy, here today.
The conflict between the merchants and the Tripura State Co-operative Bank commenced here on last March. Then twenty merchants of Manikbhnadar failed to open their account in micro savings project regarding the daily collection limit of 30, 000 rupees.
The merchants even knocked the higher up authority of the Bank for increase in the ceiling. At the same time they produced documents to show that, the Khowai branch and the Dharmanagar branch already hiked their collection limit up to 70, 000 rupees per day. But, the authority not agreed with them to permit the Kamalpur branch to exceed the limit. Hence, the merchants remained in dilemma.
Further, they also claimed that, why the Bank should have two different strategies and rules in the same state. Still nothing happened even after the intervention of the CPI-M Sub-divisional Secretary cum MLA Anjan Das.
At last, the merchants gheraod the Branch Manager today, demanding the same. The Branch Manager forwarded the matter to the higher authority. The merchants threatened that; they would go to any step of movement until their demands got fulfilled.
