26 Tripura IPS officers listed as defaul | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, May 6 (TIWN Excusive): MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) released latest data shows that 26 Tripura cadre IPS officers didn’t file IPR (immovable property disclosure) in 2015, in other words hiding their property and asset details. As per All-India Service (Conduct) rules, 1968, require officers to disclose these details when they join service and submit an annual property statement—listing properties and shares. Officers who do not submit property returns yearly in time will be “denied vigilance clearance†and will not be considered for promotion and empanelment (put on a short-list) for senior posts in Government of India, said a June 2012 home-ministry circular. | 06-May-2016 |
OTPC completes Performance Guarantee Tes | PALATANA / UDAIPUR, May 6 (TIWN): Power situation in Tripura seems to have turned better with the completion of Performance Guarantee Test (PGT) in OTPC's 726.6 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Thermal Power plant in Palatana completed and Thrusday onwards power supply improved. PGT has been completed on Wednesday midnight, with the completion OTPC too started its generation giving a sigh a relief to Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited(TSECL) , which was facing big trouble with the shut down of OTPC since 10 days.As per updates received from OTPC it is learnt that current generation of OTPC is 500mw (250MW from each unit ). At around 12.30pm generation was 50mw from Unit-II but as day progressed OPTC increased its production . By Friday morning OTPC will touch its highest target ( around 700MW) . It is to be mentioned here that after 10,000 hours of continuous operation a unit needs to go through PGT and Unit-II of OTPC has already crossed its 10000 hours marks and as such PGT was compulsory to run Plants in healthy condition. | 06-May-2016 |

TSECL MD Shyamal Roy’s words and the ground reality go different. Blackouts are a frequent occurrence in many interior part of the state because of a shortage of power and an antiquated electricity grid. At the same time, many of the people living in villages of the interior part of the state have no access to the electricity grid at all. Hot summer and a deficient monsoon season has increased the demand for power as farmers irrigate fields in rural areas and residents run their fan far longer than usual. CPI-M Govt’s Rs. 336 crore Mid-d | AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): State BJP exposed the massive Mid-day-meal corruption held in Tripura and State Education Dept’s direct involvement in it, as during the budget publishing, state sent a vague report of total students to the central Govt. for sanctioning more funds. BJP State spokesman Mrinal Kanti Deb attacked state Gov. by saying that 2010-1015, Tripura Govt. spent 336 crore’s of central funds. However, in the 3rd page of the Annual Work Plan & Budget (AWPB) for 2014-15 Govt. published a wrong report with a vague-maximum number of students under Mid-day-meal scheme. Whereas the number of students were 3,36,400 in the annual report it was shown as 3,44,265 with at least 7856 students more than the actual number of students. Whereas the state Govt. attacks BJP Central Govt. for privatization of Education system, but in reality since 2010, there has been at least 70 % increase of students admission in private schools, rather than Govt. schools due to the poor quality of Education provided by Manik Sarkar’s State Govt. | 05-May-2016 |

On Tuesday last Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Health Minister jointly inaugurated the MRI service at 5pm. Tripura MGNREGA scam : HC’s decis | AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): To save the vote banks in the upcoming Assembly Election, Tripura Govt. is trying to save its image after massive scandals held under MGNREGA. After High Court expressed dissatisfaction about the CBI inquiry process against MGNREGA scam, court had further ordered to conduct audit by independent investigation organization into the case. The court also requested the central Comptroller and auditor general (CAG) to suggest names for independent investigation organizations. However, HC announced it on April 19, 2016 with the divisional bench with CJ Dipak Gupta and justice Subhashish Talaparta. During the session of hearing at HC on April 19 as the public prosecutors failed to answers to the question which reported serious embezzlement in the in the blocks, so High Court took that decision. Massive storm Cripples IT and telecommun | AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): The telecommunication services in Tripura have deteriorated in the past few days because of poor internet connectivity and congestion in the network due to the storm and rain. BSNL authorities have blamed inadequate communication channels compared to the number of users, while private operators held BSNL responsible for the poor tele-infrastructure in the state. Government telecom operator, BSNL's network failed from Sunday evening till today after the storm. Subscribers kept pressing their key pads but none of the numbers could get connected due to the server error. People were not able to neither receive nor make calls since last 3 days. First BG passenger trial train flagged o | AGARTALA, May 3 (TIWN): Scripting history in the golden pages of Tripura , the first BG train of trial run left from Agartala railway station on Tuesday morning for Silchar with a total 713 passengers. The train would travel a total journey of 228 km and will cross through 26 stations. It is to be mentioned here that the first BG (broad gauge) Train flagged off from Silchar at 9am, arrived Dharmanagar at 2.10pm, and came to Agartala railway station at around 6pm on Monday evening. Huge enthusiasm among the people at Agartala railway station reflects how much desperately the people of Tripura have been waiting for the BG passenger train in the state. Amidst huge enthusiasm, zeal and rituals the first BG train left from Agartala for Silchar.Huge rush of passengers were seen on Tuesday at Agartala Station to be part of this historic journey. There are 12 coaches, including five general second class compartments, five chair car and two SLRs in the two trains for Agartala.
