AGARTALA, May 3 (TIWN): Frantic slogans of Modi Zindabad filled high in air as common people engaged pitching their voice high for PM Narendra Modi as it is believed that only due to the ‘Act East’ Policy of PM Nartendra Modi towards Tripura, North East brought the BG train in to the statein 2016. This spell of joy turned into ecstasy as Agartala has finally made it to the national BG rail network when the first trial run of the BG train was conducted successfully and entered Agartala railway station without any hurdles. The train was bid adieu amidst cheers and enthusiasm when the train head along with 12 coaches left the Agartala railway station amidst cheers and happiness. PM Narendra Modi’s “Act east” policy has made it successful to pave the way of the BG railway service to Agartala railway station after years of waiting.

If everything falls in place, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is likely to run passenger train on the newly converted Broad-Gauge track in state by the end of this month.

If possible the BG passenger train will be a gift to the people of landlocked Tripura from next week.Agartala BG passenger service can kick off at any moment as it is just waiting for green signal after the trial run report.  It is to be mentioned here that the BG freight train is continuously arriving with goods and the trail run of BG passenger train has already began.

However, the sources from the Railway authority said that the track is all set to start BG passengers train but nothing can be done before the fresh reports of the trial run.

NFR is all set to run the BG Passenger train on the track which is newly converted from Metre gauge to Broad gauge.

The much-awaited gauge conversion work in Tripura line has been completed and the work on the route commenced in the month of October and the work is almost completed.

On commissioning, this section will provide an alternative link to the rail network in Tripura.

The new broad gauge line will improve rail connectivity between Tripura and other states of the country.

Once the route is commissioned, there are expectations that new services would be allowed in due course of time.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working hard to bring Agartala under the country’s Broad Gauge Network by May 2016. With the introduction of the BG facility, travelling would become more easy and reasonable.
