AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): A one day long workshop on district level orientation was held at Nazrul kalkshetra auditorium hall.

The workshop was attended by power minister Manik Dey, Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia, AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, DM west Millind Ramteke and others.

The workshop mainly held discussions with the officials of several departments including power, PWD, water, rural development, panchayat, food and others.

The workshop was mainly held discussion for the office bearers of PRI, village committees, and functionaries under west Tripura.

The workshop focussed to check the status of power, PWD, water, rural development, panchayat, food and others works in the state.

Rural development is the process of improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people living in relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas, said Minister Manik Dey. He further said that it is important to develop all the sections of the rural areas to ensure progress of the entire state..

Addressing the day-long meeting, the dignitaries further said that a healthy and dynamic agricultural sector is an important foundation of rural development, generating strong linkages to other economic sectors. Rural livelihoods are enhanced through effective participation of rural people and rural communities in the management of their own social, economic and environmental objectives by empowering people in rural areas, particularly women and youth, including through organizations such as local cooperatives and by applying the bottom-up approach.

Referring the all-round development in rural areas, the dignitaries stressed on the point that almost all the Gram Panchayats and Village Committees are to be connected by black top roads while the habitations are to be connected by good measure of transportation. Initiatives to be adopted for the development of electricity connection to the rural areas including measures should also be adopted for providing pure drinking water facility
