AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): Tripura is under the threat of various water born diseases,as patients making beeline to doctors and health centers.

Chances of Cholera, Malaria, and Dengue fever are high at present due to use of pollluted water. Already 1 claimed due to fever at Khowai.

Malaria, which is a disease caused by parasites that enter the blood through the bite of a mosquito, in a high alarm across the rural areas of Tripura.

Tripura's health officials couldn't eracditate malaria from State so far even though rest of India got rid of malaria decades back.

Lack of safe drinking water and source of protected drinking water in rural areas are causing various diseases as diarrhea, cholera and hepatitis.

Owing to inadequate supply of pure drinking water, people are forced to queue at the wells points for long periods just to have water.

Summers are here and the hilly areas as well as several villages are already complaining about water shortages not to mention many villages which lack safe drinking water.

Also in places where ground water has arsenic or fluoride, surface water should be considered as an alternative but Govt's apathy causing further sfferings of people.
