AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): Although there are not many reasons to delay the entry of BG train at Tripura by March 2016, but several hurdles might hit the BG conversion work up till Udaipur. There is no doubt the BG conversion work is progressing in full swing but the several hurdles may obstruct the BG conversion work at Udaipur. The railway authority has taken the required initiatives but the negligence of the state government might lead to the obstruction in the BG conversion work.It is to be mentioned here that so far the state government is yet failure in the land acquisition work at Udaipur since past one year. However, such hurdles might create problem in connecting Agartala with Udaipur through BG lines. The conversion work is underway in full swing, but several hurdles might disturb the conversion work. However, conversion work between karimganj to Udaipur is underway as conversion between Badarpur and karimganj is completed.

Accordingly the BG conversion work is scheduled to get completed by March 2016 but several hurdles might create problem in the conversion work.It is worthy to mention that, demands for constructing rail over bridge at several spot are raised largely especially at Khamarbari area of Teliamura. The local people of Teliamura have stalled the BG conversion work at Teliamura in demand of road over bridge since October 1.

Due to the strong confrontation from the side of the villagers BG conversion was stalled up at around 800 meter area of Teliamura. If the impasse continues the work will be suffered.

They have been demanding a Rail Overhead Bridge (ROB) at Teliamura station for safety of local people.

However, there is no assurance when will this issue at the Teliamura will meet an end but if the situation prevails it will definitely hamper the work progress.

With the introduction of the BG facility, one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State –Tripura in a journey spanning around eight hours and if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed shortly.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation by March 2016.

The trial run of the motor trolley run was conducted on the newly converted BG track between Agartala to Kumarghat to check the stability of the track and to begin the journey of the goods trains in the track. However, a total of conversion of 109 km of rail track from Meter Gauge (MG) to Broad Gauge (BG) for the Agartala – Kumarghat railway track is completed and is now ready to run the goods train in the track.
