AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): Raising voice against the army authority over the issue of illegally occupying the land of common mass the resident of Ravi das para under Durjoy Nagar on Saturday staged protest on the salbagan to Holy cross school road.
It is to be mentioned here that the locals of Ravidas Para under Durjoy Nagar alleged that the army has occupied the lion share of the salbagan to Holy cross school road for building a boundary wall of the army complex hardly leaving few space for the common people to walk.
The localites further said that this road is one of the essential roads for the resident of Ravidas para as this road connects them with the main road. However, a total of hundred families are residing in the area and this is one of the major roads for connecting the families with the main road.
The people further alleged that after occupying the lion share of the road the army camp located in the area has started erecting boundary wall. Although SDM of Mohanpur visited the spot and asked both the party’s to solve the issue over mutual understanding but despite of orders from SDM the army authority have begun the construction of the boundary wall.
Meanwhile, the localites also alleged that the army authority has not consulted with any of the residents before the erecting the walls. The villagers further alleged that neither the consent of nor any compensation is given to the villagers.
It is to be mentioned here that the common people of these are using this road for the transportation and connectivity with the main road. However, if this road is blocked they will be completely isolated from the main road.
However, demanding to withdraw the plan of army authority to erect boundary wall on the road the common people have staged protest.
