AGARTALA, Feb 2 (TIWN): Construction of fly-over, day to day road blockade over several issues of crisis of water, LPG, electricity and others, the dwellers of Agartala witness’s traffic logjams at rush hour every day, unnecessarily holding up people who are in a hurry to reach their destinations at time.
As scores of vehicles clog the stretch between Bordowali to Battala to Motorstand and several other routes, smooth movement of the traffic is highly distracted leading the common man to suffer immensely.
A two-wheeler rider on Monday morning stranded in a traffic jam at Bordowali stated that, “riding vehicle in Agartala is not only wastage of time but also wasting liters of petrol”.
“Widened portion of the road is occupied with bikes, auto and rickshaw and there is no place for the pedestrian to walk”, said a middle aged man.
Our city is on the highway to everyday traffic glitch. Growing traffic jams are directly proportionate to the growing infrastructure of Agartala.
On an average time required to cover a distance of 3 km takes 45 minutes to cover the distance due to massive traffic jam.
Travelling through the busiest road has become a cause of headache and a fatigue for the passengers and also for the drivers as the travel may take double time, particularly in between Battala junction, Motorstand, Chandrapur and other quintessential streets of the city.
Especially during the office hours the people are mainly facing trouble while travelling through this road. The road from Nagerjala to Battala has become congested resulting the parking of vehicles at the no parking zone on the roadside causing inconvenience to the smooth traffic movement, and more seriously to vulnerable pedestrians.
The saga of the traffic congestion begins from the morning and continues till late it the night. In most of the times the auto drivers deny to carry passengers and ride through this roads as traffic jam continuously disrupts the smooth riding of the vehicles on the road.
Increasing vehicular traffic has only made the matter worse and at the same time it has also become more dangerous for commuters in reaching their respective destinations. At any given point of time, it is utter chaos at the roundabout, which witnesses at least thousand vehicles crossing over the same road.
Road blockade, protest rally, construction of fly-over, and many others lead to traffic jam regularly at different spots, leaving the common man to suffer.
