Tripura Assembly adopts unanimous resolu | AGARTALA, February 21 (TIWN): The Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution requesting the Union Ministry for Rural Development for immediate release of at least Rs. 500 crore during current fiscal for year under flagship programme PMGSY. The Union Rural Development Ministry has emphasized for completion of all the works under PMGSY in the state within March, 2017 and release of an amount of Rs. 600 crore per year was assured.Constructions and up-gradation of 2120 km road is to be completed by March, 2017 and more than Rs. 1500 crore would be required to be released by MoRD. Most of the works have already been sanctioned by MoRD and execution is progressing in full swing. The Union Rural Development Ministry has released Rs. 185.73 crore to Tripura Rural Roads Development Agency (TRRDA) so far. The TRRDA has already incurred an expenditure of Rs. 370 Crore by temporary arranging funds from other accounts and atleast Rs. 200 crore would be required during the February and March. | 20-Feb-2015 |
OTPC Unit-II starts testing with a poss | PALATANA/ UDAIPUR, February 21(TIWN): Even after two and half months OTPC is yet to start commercial generation from its Unit-II of the 726.6mw Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Thermal Power Plant at Palatana. A highly placed source in the OTPC told this correspondent on Friday evening at 6pm the Unit-II started production and this time it is said to be as part of routine check up . Same kind of steps was taken five days before and the generation from Unit II that time crossed more than 363 MW. Again by Friday late night the power generation is expected to touch the full load. And according to TIWN source if the routine check up gives desired result, OTPC will consider to start the Trial Run before the Commercial Generation. Tripura teachers to be recruited under N | AGARTALA, February 20 (TIWN): Tripura govt. has constituted no new employment policy changing the old recruitment rules in regard of recruiting the teachers, irrespective of new policy, the teachers will be recruited following the NCTE guidelines, said Minister Tapan Chakroborty replying to the un-starred question moved by the opposition bench during the assembly session recently. Besides, the NCTE guideline was slated to be followed from December 24, 2014, said Minister. Average two persons commit suicide a day | AGARTALA, February 19 (TIWN): Social insecurity and joblessness have already taken its toll for past four years in Tripura. As many as 2743 persons, mostly the youths committed suicide in the state between 2011 and 2014. The highest rate of suicide was registered in 2013 between February and December, soon after left front assumed power for 5th consecutive term led by Manik Sarkar.Reasons are not known why about two persons commit suicide in a day in Tripura, highest in the country in terms of population and geography. But it is obvious, somehow younger generation is not happy with the so called development, which are failed to satisfy their aspiration.According to record as many as 703 persons commit suicide in 2011, almost two persons a day, in 2012 altogether 652 people, more than one person a day. The number rose to 732, more than two persons a day had committed suicide in the state in the year 2013. The discussion on alarming rate of suicide in Tripura has drawn the attention of assembly too during ongoing budget session. Two terrorist outfits in State are major | AGARTALA, February 19 (TIWN): Two terrorist outfits exist in State namely National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF). In a reply to a question raised by MLA Ratan lal Nath on Tuesday at Assembly, Minister-In-Charge of the Home Dept had informed that among these two terrorist outfits , the members in NLFT consists of 80 to 100 members and in ATTF consists of 30 to 40 persons. Security alert in Tripura is also at all-time high and security forces have warned that separatist groups are trying to revive themselves ahead of the assembly elections. The problematic outfit in Tripura is however the NLFT which has found to be recruiting cadres in the recent past and killed BSF jawans. Tripura govt has also extended AFSPA for six months, the anti-terrorism law that gives full powers to the armed forces to take any steps to control terrorist activities. The northeastern state of Tripura has 72 police stations. Rs 27 lakh missing from Gramin Bank's Ti | KAILASHAHAR, February 19 (TIWN): In a mysterious way Rs 27 lakh got missing from Tripura Gramin Bank's Tila Bazaar Branch, Kailashahar Sub Division. Till date no clue is found either by police or by bank authorities about the huge amount of money that got missing from Bank's locker. However, Branch Manager lodged an FIR in the Kailashahar police station seeking proper investigation. Interestingly in the FIR Branch Manager did not mention any name as suspected . It is learnt that on Tuesday evening when the transaction of the day was over , Cashier Haridas Sinha found that Rs 27 lakh is missing from the locker but on the daily transaction sheet there was no sign of fault. At once the Cashier informed this to the Branch Manager Tapas Nag. On Wednesday at around 3pm Branch Manger Tapas Nag arrived in the bank along with Regional Manager Nibaran Rupini and a large number of police force.
