Tripura has no specific CBI court: 37 No | AGARTALA, February 18 (TIWN): Tripura has no specific CBI court to deal CBI cases. But few courts of the state have already been selected to deal with CBI cases. Replying to a question raised by MLA Ratan Lal Nath at Assembly today Law minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the state has no specific CBI court. But few courts of the state have been already selected to deal with CBI cases, the Minister informed.The minister further added that total 37 Non-Banking Financial Companies'(NBFCs) cases of the state have been handed over to CBI through the central government. According to the minister, out of the 37 cases the CBI has taken only six cases of NBFCs and no charge-sheet of the six cases filed yet which were taken over by CBI.Apart from that, 1990 Shyam Hari Sharma murder case and the 2000 Bhola Saha murder cases which were solved, the minister mentioned. Earlier, opposition leader Ratan Lal Nath said “It was a calculated move of the ruling left front government because name of many CPI-M leaders are involved in NBFC deals. Don't pass orders on spectrum bidding li | NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, February 18 (TIWN) The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the high courts across the country not to rely on the Tripura High Court order to pass orders interfering with the bidding process for the allocation of 2G spectrum for which auction would be held March 4. Directing hearing, on Feb 25, of the central government's plea challenging the Tripura high court's Feb 12 order permitting Reliance Telecom Ltd and Bharti Hexaco to make two bids for spectrum for the northeastern states by modifying tender conditions, a bench of Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel asked Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi to place before it any matter relating 2G bidding before the high courts. .The attorney general told the court that by the high court order, the entire bidding process is set to be put at nought and writ petitions are being filed all over.The court said that no adjournment will be granted on Feb 25 as Rohatgi described the Tripura high court order as “astounding†and “completely unacceptableâ€, saying what was at "stake was the revenue of Rs.1 lakh crore and any interference by the court would make people shy away". | 17-Feb-2015 |

One arms smuggler detained from Tripura- | AGARTALA, February 17 (TIWN): Acting on a tip off the Assam Rifles Jawans detained an alleged arm smuggler from Naisingpara refugee camp along Tripura-Mizoram border on Monday night. The troopers later handed over the detained smuggler with the Kanchanpur Anandanagar Police Station. The incident occurred on Monday night along the Tripura-Mizoram border at Kanchanpur Naisingpara, when the concerned Assam Rifles troopers acting on a tip off detained one alleged arms peddler identified as Bualmanga ahead of the TTAADC election. Reportedly, the detained peddler was hiding in the Naisingpara refugee camp of Mizoram displaced people under Kanchanpur sub-division in North Tripura district. Kanchanpur Police Station OC Rajkumar Singh Jamatia while talking to TIWN said that the police is interrogating the detained alleged arms peddler, but as of now he was not found involved with any banned militant outfits. Massod was convicted by a Delhi court in September 2013 for illegally allowing undeserving candidates to be admitted against the MBBS seats meant for the Tripura in the medical colleges under the central quota in 1990. Veteran communist leader of Tripura and sitting CPI (M) legislator Sudhir Das died at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) hospital in New Delhi Sunday following a heart attack. He was 64 years old. MLA Sudhir Das’ body today arrived here at Agartala at around 10:15 AM, and later the body was taken to Tripura Legislative Assembly, where Chief Minister Manik Sarkar along with the leaders of all political parties cutting across party lines expressed their condolences over Das’death. However later his body has been taken to secretariat and then to his home town at Kamalpur. His body would be kept at the party office in Kamalpur" to enable people to pay their last respects. According to the officials the state government declared a half-day holiday today in Kamalpur and Ambassa. Two-day state mourning has been announced from Monday. Monarchak SOLAR plant starts 5MW commerc | AGARTALA, February 16 (TIWN): North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) kick started its commercial generation of 5 MW power from Monarchak SOLAR power plant, under Sonamura sub division from Sunday onwards, Project Head SR Biswas told to TIWN today. He further added that the authority is also trying to commission its 101 MW of power from gas based thermal power plant as early as possible. Talking to TIWN today NEEPCO Project Head S R Biswas said that the Monarchak SOLAR power plant has started its commercial generation of 5 MW power from Sunday onwards. The entire power is being transmitted to the Tripura power grid now. The solar power plant was commissioned at a cost of Rs.40 crore. Adding to that Biswas mentioned that as of now no power tariff has been fixed, and it will take another period of time. The Shillong based regulatory authority is expected to deal with fixing power tariff, said Biswas.Earlier the solar power plant at Monarchak under Sonamura sub division has generated its power up to 3.5 MW. | 16-Feb-2015 |
