Major fire broke out at Bordowali | AGARTALA, October 28 (TIWN): Private owned SSS steel furniture factory at Bordowali area of the city was gutted in a massive fire that broke out at 9:30 am and kept smoldering till 11 am on Tuesday. However, loss of life was averted but goods worth Rs. five lakh were gutted in the inferno, it is learnt.The fire was detected in right corner of the factory at about 9:30 am. Five fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. Civil officials accompanied by Police officials reached to the spot and oversaw fire-fighting operations for nearly an hour. Although there was no report of any causality, there was panic in the area because just in front of the factory Rajdhani Petrol Pump exists.At around 9:30 am, some workers saw smoke blowing from the factory. They immediately informed the locals who rushed to the factory and informed the fire service about the incident. Three fire fighters arrived on the scene immediately. Time and again we have asked the state govt to give Central Pay scale to the state govt employees and make the expenditure committed one so that 14th Finance Commission can make the same proposal to the Centre for allocation of funds.Unfortunately state govt is yet to follow the same negative policy though the 14th Pay Commission was supposed to submit its report in October this year but now it 14th Finance Commission once again extended its time upto mid-November for the final submission of its report to the Centre. 10323 teachers' job termination case; No | NEW DELHI/AGARTALA,October 27(TIWN): The much talked 10323 teachers jobs termination case won't be raised for Hearing in the Supreme Court today, next hearing is scheduled for 9th January, 2015. Earlier it was scheduled that the Hearing on this case will be done today. It is learnt that notices regarding the hearing have not reached to all respondents and their replies too did not reach yet. The case will not be put up for hearing in the SC ; only the Register will verify whether all respondents reced notice or not. However, considering the importance of the case Register may declare the date for the Hearing of the Case. Thus, once again uncertainty of the fate of 10323 terminated teachers starts to grow up. It is to be noted here that in May the Division bench of the High Court consisting the Chief Justice Dipak Kumar Gupta and Justice Swapan Ch Das terminated the 10323 teachers jobs (including Post Graduate Graduate and Under Graduate teachers) recruited by the School Education Department, Govt of Tripura from 2010 to 2013. In the Audit Report prepared in August 2014, Auditor, Directorate of Audit said," Scrutiny of the Budget Control Register, Cash Book and other connected records for the period from April 2012 to March 2014 it revealed that total amount of Rs 33,48,408/- advanced to 2(two) implementing officers during April 2013 to March 2014 for different execution of construction works under Share of Taxes(SOT), Tripura Urban Employment Programme(TUEP),13th Finance Commission, Revenue IHSDPSW&SE etc. remained unadhusted till date of AuditAugust 2014). Bimal's family worried with his safety? | BISHALGARH / AGARTALA, October 27 (TIWN):BDO Bimal was most favored officer of CM and from the level of a Cabinet Minister to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's residence, Bimal had exclusive access without permission. But now even his family members are worried of his security under police custody. The reason for such concern has arisen after four employees from the state secretariat straightway reached him in the lock up in Bishalgarh Police station in the afternoon of 23rd October by a white colour Maruti Van TR01N-0388 with the red-colour 'Secretariat' logo on it. A police official of Bishalgarh Police Station told TIWN on Sunday night," They went to him(Bimal) and handed him four pages. I don't know what it was about but at that time there was no police authority in P S ,not even O C Kanti Lal Baidya."A highly placed source closed to Bimal's family told TIWN over phone," Now his wife and other members of the family are scarred of his safety. How can people go to meet him in the absence of O C and his lawyer? If indeed, suspension order was to be handed over to police, it could have been easily done at the Police Headquarter(PHQ) ,Agartala. And no one from the Govt or Police made it clear as to what purpose did the four officials go to him?" However, officially those four persons told that they went there to hand over the suspension order of Bimal Chakraborty issued by R P Datta, Addl Secretary, Govt of Tripura.Among the four employees a Gr D employee namely Prasanta Ganguly, known as Ganguly Babu. Multi Crore Scam in Information and Comm | AGARTALA / KAMALPUR, October 27 (TIWN) : The report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, found massive irregularities and unwarranted delay in the scheme of imparting ‘Information and Communication’ education to the school children. This fact has come out in the report of the CAG ( Report 1of Govt. of Tripura, 2014) brought out after auditing for the fiscal 2012-13.The Government of India provided financial assistance of 53.60 crore rupees for 400 schools at an average of 13.40 lakhs per school. But the School Education Department provided the private agencies a rate of 8.50 lakhs per school for 150 schools and 8.04 lakhs per school for 250 schools. The report claims that, this resulted into “ a savings of 20.75 crores.†More seriously, this matter was neither intimated to the Ministry of Human Resource Development Department, Govt. of India nor was its impact or utilization assessed by the Department. Now the question is, what was done with this Rs 20.75 crores unaccounted money ? The report also notices the department’s delay in implementation of the scheme in 282 schools approved I November 2010 for the period 2010-15. Not only delay in implementation, but the CAG report shows , how the School Education Department vanished crores of rupees by providing the agencies less than Central Govt. fixed rate. | 27-Oct-2014 |

On October 1 the news was published saying that in spite of specific guidelines from Union HRD Ministry and RMSA no Finance Controller and Audit & Accounts Officer have been appointed by the SED so far. Rather the financial matters are being dealt by a DDO. Surprisingly as per RMSA guidelines there should not be any DDO. Several times officials of the department sent proposals to SED Minister Tapan Chakraborty to approve the file for appointment of Finance Controller (FC) and Accounts & Audit Officer(AAO) . Hearing of 10,323 teachers termination c | AGARTALA, October 26 (TIWN): 10,323 teacher’s termination case hearing in the Supreme Court to resume tomorrow, Oct 27. Earlier 10,323 teacher termination case hearing was adjourned on September 12. On May 7th, a division bench of High Court of Tripura comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice S C Das had cancelled the job of 10,323 teachers in different government schools. Under the employment policy, the government had appointed 10,323 teachers- 1100 PGTs, 4617 GTs and 4606 UGTs from 2010 to 2013. Announcing the judgement of 58 different cases in similar nature, the Court directed the state government to start a fresh process of appointment of teachers under independent commission with fair selection criteria.Tripura High Court also issued a detail guideline for recruitment of teachers in the government school. CPIM Central Committee Meeting 26-29 Oc | NEW DELHI / AGARTALA,October 25 (TIWN): CPI(M) Central Committee'as four day long meeting will start tomorrow on 26th October in New Delhi. This meeting is learnt to be held to prepare strategies ahead of the Party Congress to be held in Vishakhapatam next year. In this meeting Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and other Central Committee members from Tripura are learnt to be attending. All the three MPs from Tripura will also attend this meeting. Earlier it was learnt from a top level Melarmath sources that in this meeting some members may draw the attention of the Central Committee to the recent scams discovered in almost every departments in Tripura. But on Saturday a top level leader of Melarmath informed TIWN that eyeing this Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has already left for Delhi and he will make every effort not to allow anybody to raise this issue.The leader also said that as party General Secretary Prakash Karat himself is trying to retain his lost ground even after completion of his three term and poor Lok Sabha of performance with only 9 MPs, Manik Sarkar may assure him full support from the party's Tripura wings in this case. | 26-Oct-2014 |
