Agartala, Oct 26 (IANS) A US delegation now touring India’s northeast will reach Tripura Monday.
The delegation, headed by Consul General Helen LaFave, had earlier visited Meghalaya and Mizoram. From Tripura, the team will proceed to the other northeastern states.
The visit is aimed at knowing better the sprawling northeastern region that borders China, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
A Tripura government official said the US team was meeting chief ministers, influential personalities, bureaucrats, leaders of political parties as well as trade and business sectors.
The Kolkata-based US consulate looks after the northeastern states, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar.
During her visit to Mizoram last week, the US diplomat offered help to curb the drug menace and to provide financial assistance to the excise and narcotics department.
