Agartala, October 26 (TIWN): Food Corporation of India (FCI) disagreed for transit pass to goods vehicles during a meeting held among District Magistrate Abhishek Singh, Subdivisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das, Customs Department, Food Department and BSF here today.
During the meeting FCI denied request of DM, who asked for increasing the number of transit pass to goods vehicles, especially the ones carrying rice from 10 to 15 across Indo-Bangla border here for reducing the traffic jam on the border way.
Moreover, 49 vehicles were on its way to return from Bangladesh across the similar border route, according the information from sources. The suggestion held by DM during the meet would have dipped the problem that has become an escalated burden across Akhaura border in the state.
However, FCI’s negation on this point shall not resolve the growing problem of traffic rule violation on this route with more vehicles getting stagnated on the border route. “We shall increase the number of transit pass of goods vehicles from 10 to 15 every day to reduce the jam of traffic that has been faced by each department related to this transportation fiasco,” said Mr Singh.
But the raised troubleshooter’s point was disagreed by FCI on ground which remained buried without any proper clarification, that has become the biggest headache for related associations to manage smooth flow of trade across the border.
Though, the final word of FCI shall appear as a debatable point in future days to manage optimum business across Indo-Bangla border
