Durga Puja-2018 : Devotees throng to Dur | AGARTALA, Oct 18 (TIWN): People across Tripura’s every corner are celebrating joyously the Durga Puja on Maha-Navami (also known as Navratri). At the marquees and the households worshiping the Goddess, people 'Partook Bhog' (community feast of food items offered to the Goddess first), comprising a varied spread from 'luchis' (deep fried puffed bread) to 'khichuri', vegetable items, to fish and even mutton. Navratri, the nine nights Hindu festival is observed every year in October. The ninth day of Navratri is celebrated as Navami and holds a special significance. It was on Navami that Goddess Durga annihilated the buffalo demon Mahishasura and veered off his head. It symbolises the victory of good over evil. During these nine days, devotees observe fast to pay respect to the Goddess. Navratri will culminate on the tenth day with Vijaya Dashami or Dussehra on October 19. Thousands of devotees gather at Durga Ba | AGARTALA, Oct 17 (TIWN): Crowd thronged at ancient Durga Bari temple, Rama Krishna Mission and various temples on the occasion of Maha Astami. Maha Ashtami, also known as Durga Ashtami, was marked by significant rituals in the morning, beginning with Kumari Puja where girls are worshiped as personifications of the Goddess. Price hike hits markets in Durga Puja : | AGARTALA, Oct 16 (TIWN): Even though 7th Pay Commission has been a far reality for Tripura employees, pensioners, but due to rumour ongoing on 7th Pay Commission price hike has hit the market. On Saptami Day, fruits to vegetable all items prices went high whereas cabbage price crossed 120. Whereas only 0.32 factor was hiked for employees merely with 14.2% hike in salaries, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb and party continue to lie that Govt is done with 7th Pay Commission. As a result in market rates of commodities have been increased more, whereas Govt employees are unable to make shopkeepers to understand that 7th Pay Commission has not been given. CM however mentioned, due to fund crisis followed by CPI-M regime of 25 years, BJP Govt could not implement various allowances for employees. But in Verma Committee report it has been clearly said that since 2014 fund deprivation started with Tripura and thus no Govt could implement 7th Pay Commission. Maha-Saptami gathers huge crowd of devot | AGARTALA, Oct 16 (TIWN): Pomp and pageantry and devotion marked the occasion of Maha Saptami at Durga Bari temple as hundreds of people decked up in their best and gathered at the temple to offer prayers to Goddess Durga on Tuesday morning. Since early morning, people have been thronging at Durga Bari temple where idol of the goddess Durga with two hands at her back and her four children are being worshiped amid much community fanfare. People danced, whistled, mingled with friends and family in an infectious all-embracing spirit. The religious rituals of Maha Saptami (seventh day on the lunar calendar) began with the bathing of a banana plant in ponds. The plant is treated like a bride, wrapped in a new sari and placed next to the idol of Lord Ganesh, son of Goddess Durga. This plant is called Kalabau' (banana plant bride) - considered the wife of Ganesha. The ritual is called 'Nabapatrika snan-o-sthapan' and many believe this practise is traced to the agrarian society of east India. The Nabapatrika (new leaves) consists of nine banana leaves. After BJP's Saffron coat on ancient Durg | AGARTALA, Oct 15 (TIWN): BJP's ally IPFT is now in action of damage control after BJP Govt ordered a saffron coat across ancient Durga Bari temple ahead of Durga Puja. Today IPFT President cum Forest Minister NC Debbarma had visited Durga Bari temple, 1 day after the temple was re-coloured with white recovering it from saffron colour. NC Debbarma's visit even though raised question whether he came from IPFT party or BJP-IPFT Govt, but NC Debbarma declined to answer anything supporting or protesting over the saffron colour. NC Debbarma also talked to the priests and officials regarding the needful renovations for Durga Bari temple. Addressing media, NC Debbarma said, "Tripura is now in festive mood. The weather is also now in our favour. For few days, due to Titli the weather was in bad shape but now Titli is also gone and weather is in our favour. We'r hopeful that puja will go nicely and the preparations in this regard is already completed. Public are rushing the pandals which proves that the state is in festive mood. The coming days also will go well, we are hoping that. I am now visiting this temple (Durga Bari) where the final touch is being given before Durga Puja. From State Govt side, I greet whole Tripura. 'It is 7th Pay Commission ! No Doubt', C | AGARTALA, Oct 15 (TIWN): When Tripura's State Govt employees are shocked over the "JUMLA Commission" announcement with merely 0.32 factor hike cutting all allowances and DA and Verma Committee itself has accepted that since 2014 Govt of India (Modi Govt) continued slashing of funds for Tripura resulting the State Govt could never give equal pay like centre, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said in a Durga puja pandal inauguration programme at Melaghar, "It is only and only 7th Pay Commission, there is no doubt on that. If not so how Group-C employees are getting Central Pay of Rs. 18000 per month ?" CM desperately claimed Tripura Pay Matrix 2018 as 7th Pay Commission whereas in reality, it's at least 20,000-22,000 a Group-C at Centre gets along with other benefits. Moreover, 2.57 is not workable in their case and the fixed TET teachers will get merely 600 rupees hike, whereas the new teachers will not only get 1700 rupees less than the existing teachers but Statev Govt will not give them provident funds. Most importantly employees were promised to get double salary and pay at Central scale, whereas Tripura employees got nothing. Mentioning various pending allowances and arrears (since 2016, January) and BJP's failure to implement pay hike from 2016, Biplab Deb hit the critics, "Will you give the money ?
