AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, Oct 18 (TIWN): During Durga puja pandal construction work of Rabindra Sangha in Udaipur an age old stone made idol of Shitla Goddess has been found on July 30. This idol has been set in a temple near Jagannath Bari lake.

This year Rabindra Sangha has planned to make a 50 feet Durga idol for the upcoming Durga Puja on October 15. While laying the foundation for it, the pandal workers found the stone made idol.

It’s located near Jagannath Temple of Udaipur where two schools KBI and English Medium are located.

Udaipur was the erstwhile Capital of Tripura during Kings time and Jagannath temple area which has now become a town now, has many historical glimpses across, but all are now under ground or in negligence.

Before few years, while digging in a corner of Jagannath Lake to release its dirty water to river Gomati, a temple like structure was also found on the bank of it, but it left under ground again. There are heavy chances of more such idols or temples existence across the Jagannath lake.

It’s a Goddess of King’s era, at the primary observation it has been said.
