'A dead body was needed on Sep 20 for CP | AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): Demanding CBI probe in Tripura's TV journalist Santanu Bhowmik's murder case, state journalists have shown agitation on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in front of Gandhi statue at Circuit house. The journalists, photographers, editors participated in the protest from various media houses, alleged that when a 50 members of journalists' team visited Mandai on Sep-26 they held talk with local people of that area but in every points, police and local people's claims were different and even there were mismatch of talks among the police officials also. Agartala claims itself efficient to be c | AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): CPI-M controlled AMC (Agartala Municipal Corporation) so called cover drain system has led to overflow of drain water resulting flood like situation since Friday morning after the moderate shower in the city. City dwellers witnessing the downstream waterway of the drain has been completely blocked that has resulted in accumulation of water and flooding on the upstream side. The water has started coming onto the road and there is a threat of the road being blocked as this is a very high traffic corridor between Melarmath to Kaman Chowmuhani. Foolish decisions by CPI-M brains after which AMC closed all drains by concrete cover, the cleaning of soil and garbage was stopped resulting chocked drains as it cannot carry water and the water floods randomly on the streets. Some of the internal roads were inundated for hours causing terrible sufferings for residents. Drainage flood water causing damage to shops and housing blocks. Journalist Santanu murder case : No prog | AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): After 10 days of brutal murder on Sept 20 at Mandai, CPI-M controlled Tripura Police arrested only two drug addicts and failed to conduct any proper investigation. In spite of Rs 10 lakhs compensation and promise of SIT (Special Investigation Team) formation, Journalists and common public has no trust in Tripura Police as it failed to crack a single brutal murder case in past 2 decades. Under Chief Minister’s instructons, Tripura ICA Minister Bhaulal Saha rejected CBI's intervention into Journalist Santanu Bhowmik murder case. In a press conference Bhanulal Saha said, "SIT is being set for Santanu murder case and CBI investigation is right now not needed". This announcement has triggered mass resentment among the journalists, who have lost their friend in CPI-M, IPFT clash. Tripura consumers to pay more as Union G | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Oct 1 (TIWN): Union Govt hiked subsidized cooking gas price as well as Jet fuel so it will be hitting Tripura consumers as airfare will increase. State-run oil marketing firms hiked the price of subsidised cooking gas by Rs 1.50 per LPG cylinder and jet fuel by six per cent, effective from Sunday. According to the Indian Oil Corp (IOC), price of a subsidised 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will now be Rs 488.68 in New Delhi,in Northeast India, Tripura approximately few rupees more as against Rs 487.18 to Rs 490 earlier. Oil marketing companies (OMCs) revise rates of LPG and jet fuel on the first of every month. Subsidised LPG rates were raised last by Rs 7 per LPG cylinder on September 1, as part of the decision to increase prices every month so as to eliminate subsidies. The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), or jet fuel, was also increased from Sunday by 6.04 per cent to Rs 53,045 per kilolitre in New Delhi, as against the earlier price of Rs 50,020.Jet fuel prices vary with airports depending on local taxes. | 01-Oct-2017 |

5 blind teachers may lose jobs as Tripur | AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): Tripura Govt led another recruitment scam has been exposed, when Central Govt has issued a notification about teachers’ training. As per the notifications training have to be completed within 2 years along with necessary percentages. But the teachers who were recruited under 'blind category' in 2007 they even don't know Braille method of teaching, neither they are able to do any class at the schools. For example one teacher who studied in normal school and college at Udaipur, later s/he lost eye-power due to some accident. On that time due to CPI-M’s heavy closeness with the family they managed a job for the blind person by giving posting at nearby school forever.
