Foundation stone laid by Union Transport | AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, in a video conferencing has laid the foundation stones of nine National Highway projects with a length of nearly 262 km worth over Rs 2,752 crore in Tripura on Tuesday. The projects will provide faster and hassle-free inter-state and international connectivity to Bangladesh. It will be a big stride towards strengthening the state’s tourism sector. Immersion begins at Dasami-Ghat : Vijaya | AGARTALA, Oct 26 (TIWN): Amid tight security arrangements, marking the formal conclusion of biggest festival- Durga Puja, the immersion worship (Vijaya Dashami) to Goddess Durga has been started in Tripura. To mark this occasion, teary eyed devotees bade an emotional farewell to the idols of goddess Durga. People from different community thronged Durga puja pandals to offer their tributes to the goddess on the last day of the five-day long festivity. Married women decked in the ritualistic red-and-white sarees marked the event with the customary "Sindoor Khela" or smearing each other and the idols with red vermilion to prepare the goddess and her clan for their long journey to home, as dhaaks (traditional drums) played on in the background.The unique part about this year's Durga Puja is that the ninth and 10th day – Maha Navami and Vijaya Dashami – fall on the same day. Traditional Kumar Puja marks Maha-Astami | AGARTALA, Oct 24 (TIWN): Traditional Kumari Puja has been observed in various temples and household pujas on Maha Astami across Tripura. In Govinda Baul's domestic puja at Badharghat Maitri Palli, 11 years old girl, Chitrakshi Chakraborty has been given puja, as per the traditional norm of the puja. During the puja, the priest has given her name 'Sandhya'. In Kumari puja, the girl should preferably Hindu Brahmin and also virgin. She is worshipped as a form of Goddess Durga. This is one of the most popular rituals on Maha-Astami of Durga puja. Worship of the Almighty as Divine Mother is an age-old tradition in India and a refined part of Indian culture.According to Sri Ramakrishna, little girls at the tender age when they are away from negative forces of the materialistic world are manifestations of the Divine Mother. Maha-Saptami puja observed in Agartala's | AGARTALA, Oct 23 (TIWN): Devotion, prayers, and dedication marked the beginning of the auspicious occasion of Maha-Saptami at Durga Bari since Friday morning. Amidst huge enthusiasm and devotion, on the auspicious day of Maha-Saptami, devotees observe rigorous fast and worship Goddess Durga and offered prayers at Durga Bari temple. However, due to COVID-19, this year gathering yet has not been seen in pandals and temples. The weather also remained festive unfavourable as from morning rains started in the state. The religious rituals of Maha Saptami (seventh day on the lunar calendar) began with the bathing of a banana plant in ponds. The plant is treated like a bride, wrapped in a new sari and placed next to the idol of Lord Ganesh, son of Goddess Durga. This plant is called Kalabau' (banana plant bride) - considered the wife of Ganesha. The ritual is called 'Nabapatrika snan-o-sthapan' and many believe this practise is traced to the agrarian society of east India. The club Secretary mentioned that they only collected donations from club members and observed the Durga puja without any decorations from public in that area. Social distancing, proper sanitizing have been maintained in puja days as per Govt rules. Today Maha-Saptami puja was also observed there with full devotion, with limited numbers of people.
