'DHARNA' or 'DRAMA' ? CPI-M backed banke | AGARTALA, Feb 25 (TIWN): By hook and crock, the Left Front Unions would continue their protest against Central Govt's various policies. Whereas Tripura Govt has failed to generate employment in state; neither it could implement Central scale's pay structure for the state govt employees, but raising voice against the Centra's Economic Policy CPI-M backed bankers to disrupt all banking transactions on Tuesday; which may halt the smooth going of banking service and other developmental works. Reportedly, the bankers under United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) held hour-long protest against Central Banking and economic policy and declared that they will halt the bank service on Feb 28. As assumed, the left front party is strategically holding various protests for long 1 month and all the protests have begun against the Centre. CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar said on Feb 22 that Tripura Left Front party to kick off many protests from this month to March. Manik Sarkar's Home Ministry fails to re | AGARTALA, Feb 25 (TIWN): Eventhough Tripura DGP’s claim of declining non-registered FIRs in Tripura, but Tripura Home Ministry could not hide the fact when opposition Congress MLA Ratan Lal Nath as a part of Assembly questioning asked Tripura Govt about the number of registered and unregistered cases. However, it has been revealed from the data that whereas in the year-2014 the number of registered FIRs were 5759 but the non-FIR cases were 1,72,042. In 2015 the number of registered FIRs were 4864 but the non-FIR cases were 1,77,788. Apart from that a month-wise data shows that in 2016 December the FIR number was 281 and non-FIR 9203. 11 NREGA workers injured in Tripura out | AGARTALA / PANISAGAR, Feb 24 (TIWN): Atleast 11 NREGA workers were injured at Padmabil Village (Panisagar) when a communal clash between local Hindus and Muslims had developed, regarding a land issue. However, talking immediately to SP North Manik Das, he said, "This incident was actually developed from land disputes regarding a road construction in that village and a violent clash occurred among the locals which left atleast 7 to 8 people seriously in injured". He also confirmed that the situation is fully under control and no communal issue was there. TIWN eye-witness from Dharmanagar hospital reported that presently 6 people are admitted there in critical condition. The injured people at Dharmanagar hospital are : 1) Ajay Kr. 62 Chit Fund groups spread networks in T | AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): Under the Communist rule industry could set up or not, but total 62 chit fund companies had run their regime in Tripura. The State Govt itself declared about the number of Chit Fund groups as 62; replying to the question oppositions in the Assembly. As per the data total 78 cases were filed regarding chit fund groups, whereas only 18 chargesheets were submitted by SIT and rest 65 were said as under investigation. But what surprises is that out of 62 chit fund groups only 17 companies offices were seized including Rose Valley, which was seized recently. 3 women are tortured in every 24 hours i | AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): Although Tripura DGP K Nagraj boosts a lot about decreasing crime against women and claimed that atleast 25 % crime reduction has been achieved by Tripura Police in 2015-16 but in a shocking revelation, it has been disclosed that there is no respite from torture against women and the crime against women only in January 2017 was total 58 and atleast 17 were rape cases.The report was not published by any opposition party, but when in the ongoing Assembly opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath, Asish Saha and Sudip Roy Barman raised the question to the Home Ministry Dept, then from govt data, the dept. released the whole year's data. There was total 446 crime against women only in last 6 months. Corruption continues under Tripura RD De | AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): Atleast 50 lakhs of embezzlement was reported from North Tripura Dasda RD Block (under Kanchapur), during a construction of bridge over Deo river. The work was completed in 2015, but within a year the bridge was collapsed. But neither there is any initiative to repair it nor any investigation was done against the construction. As a result the local people are massively suffering as it was the only way between North Twitham and South Twitham. Reportedly the work began before 4 years and completed in 2015, and within a year the bridge was damaged too.However, following such corruptions the Central Govt has now set Geo-tracking system to make the projects more transparent, whereas the ruling CPI-M has expressed extreme displeasure about it. CPI-M's 23 yrs misrule : total 1678 case | AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): Atleast 1678 cases in Tripura High Court and 157 cases at the Supreme Court totaling 1835 cases are pending against the Tripura Govt. This Law Dept of Tripura was bound to reveal the data in the Assembly when one Congress MLA Ratan Lal Nath placed the question before the Law Dept. Replying the question raised by Nath, Law Dept. led by Minister Tapan Chakraborty said, ".presently at High Court there are 1678 cases and 157 cases at Supreme Court are under trial". However, in the year 2015 there were 639 cases at High Court and 93 cases at Supreme Court had came under trail. In the year 2016 the number of cases at High Court was 1172 and at Supreme Court was 68. The figure shows a up of filing of cases and the number of petitioners who were allegedly deprived by the ruling party. Govt Lawyer's role at HC under scanner : | AGARTALA, Feb 23 (TIWN): Parimal Saha murder case, which was solved after 33 yrs of pending in Tripura lower court, now again turning complicated at High Court, due to the suspicious role of Tripura Govt lawyer Abhijit Ghosh, alleged opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath at the Assembly.. After 33 years of wait, Former Congress MLA Parimal Saha's family had received the justice at last as Court convicted 8 people ending the case. Additional district and session court in 2016 announced twelve people as guilty into the murder case and 5 acquitted among the entire 17 accused of the case. However this case was brought under special focus after the High court ordered the additional district and session court to wrap up the Parimal Saha murder case hearing along with judgement by April 30, 2016.It is to be mentioned here that lower court has agreed to treat the copy of certified post-mortem report of Parimal Saha as evidence into the case.Earlier as a part of the hearing of the case, the accused were interrogated in the court under section 313. 1.5 lakh cases pending : yet Law Ministe | AGARTALA, Feb 23 (TIWN): Whereas West Bengal's 64 Fast Track Courts are functional in full wave, UP's 80, Maharashtra 80, Andhra Pradesh 72, Gujrat 61; Tripura has only 3 Fast Track Courts resulting 1 lakh 51 thousand 275 Court pending cases only in the lower courts. But there is no plan and programme to set up more Fast Track Courts. Chakraborty said, altogether 1,51,193 cases have been pending for disposal in different courts of the state and of them as many as 3185 cases have been pending for more than 10 years and a few cases were pending more than 25 years. However, allegation raised against the state govt as there were three Fast Track Courts in the state at Sonamura, Khowai and Kailashahar but without any notification the state government made them dysfunctional when the conviction rate were not satisfactory rather almost half of the national average.
