AGARTALA, August 17 (TIWN): The welfare fund constituted for the welfare of TSR jawans seems to have failed in its objective and the jawans has been deprived of the benefits of welfare fund, alleged TSR jawans.
The state government is supposed to give approval for increasing ration money and other benefits to the jawans from the fund. Considering the issue, files were sent to the office of Director General of police (DGP) and the state government.
But, the state government is not giving approval certificate since 4 to 5 months. According to the TSR jawans, the state government did not go through the file.
Letter was issued for several times from the office of DGP to the state government. Allegations were raised that there was no response from the part of the state government, hence depriving more than 10,000 jawans. Besides, resentment brewed among the jawans over pay scale and allowance. While, CRPF along with the jawans of other para-military forces are receiving Rs 2200 as ration money, the TSR jawans are getting Rs 700 only sparking resentment among the jawans.
It is worthy to mention here that the welfare fund was constituted aiming at the welfare of TSR jawans. There are files regarding the welfare funds. But, the jawans have been deprived of the benefits of welfare fund and the reason behind the issue could not be ascertained.
