AGARTALA, Nov 25 (TIWN): Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) President of MBB College on Tuesday staged a protest along with his co-members alleging he was wrongfully charged with ragging. However, his words exposed that he is indulged in “ragging”.

Talking to the media, the ABVP leader explained, “I am the President of the ABVP unit of MBB college and it’s my duty to oversee the students.” He added, that’s why he just checks if anything wrong is going on in the college.

Fact is any student club or organization headed by non-faculty members have no authority to “oversee” students — it’s simply ragging.

When the Principal called him based on a complaint, the ABVP President entered the Principal’s room, charged him (the Principal) asking to reveal who made the complaint. When the argument erupted, ABVP members locked the Principal's room, allegedly disconnected electricity. 

That created a ruckus in the campus.

This is not a single instance where due to student political groups, the educational environment was affected but it has turned into a challenge for the college authorities to maintain the order in campus, because of too much political indulgences.
