Agartala, Oct 9(TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar emphasized on cleanliness initiatives across the state as well as civic bodies. He was addressing a blood donation camp organized by Agartala Municipal Council (AMC) here on Wednesday.
Mr. Sarkar appealed the Agartala residents to set an example of cleanliness as AMC is will soon get the Corporation tag.” As Agartala city expands, the burden of waste materials produced is increasing. It is important that the waste material is properly disposed. Plastic packets should not be thrown into drains as it adds to the problem of flash flood," the chief minister said.
He urged the people and the civic bodies to carry out cleanliness drive on regular basis a clean and healthy environment. "Clean environment is the key to a sound mind and body," he added.
On importance of blood donation, the chief minister remarked that nothing was comparable to human blood despite rapid technological development in the medical care arena as manufacturing of blood was not possible even today.
Awareness is created among people to come forward voluntarily to donate blood so that sufficient supplies were maintained in the blood banks to meet emergencies or scheduled need. “By donating blood we can give a new lease of life to people,” he added.
However, pointing at the pending requirement. Mr.Sarkar said, “We have to ensure that the current donation ration is retained, voluntary blood reaches 100 percent of necessity and that it crosses the mark in due course of time”
Urban develop Minister Manik Dey, AMC chairperson Dr. Prafullajit Sinha and Chief Executive Officer of AMC Milind Ramteke was also present in the programme.
