AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 24 (TIWN): Indian National Congress (INC) lodged a complaint to the Election Commission against BJP candidate Kriti Singh and BJP party for alleged ‘Unscrupulous Practices’ which tantamounts to ‘Election Fraud’ and ‘Malpractice’. In the letter signed by Girish Chodankar, INC State Incharge stated, that whereas the East Tripura candidate claimed her name in the election affidavit as Kriti Devi Debbarman, previously she said in other affidavits that her name is Kriti Devi Singh. Congress complained, her all documents including PAN card etc are named Kriti Devi Singh with the address of Chattishgarh.
“No previous occasion has Smt Kriti Singh used the surname Debbarman in her election affidavit or in any official documentation or Govt ID,” the complaint stated.
Congress accused this practice as a part of model code of conduct violation by using cast and communal identity as a means to appeal to the electorate in a bid to secure votes.
Congress previously had raised the issue to the State Election Department but seeing no outcome, now the party has raised a complaint to the Election Commission of India.
