AGARTALA, April 26 (TIWN): Much awaited Lok Sabha Poll for the East Tripura constituency was held in Tripura on Friday. But an unprecedented situation erupted in multiple places after voters boycotted votes. The boycott took place in Ampi Nagar, Raima Valley areas since the early morning after voters blocked road alleging no development took place in their areas.Due to the road blockade, traffic movement stopped and vehicles rowed up as they were not allowed to proceed by the voters.
“Why should we vote, if the politicians do not bother to work for us,” said an agitating woman at Ampi.
“We have seen all governments but nobody could give us proper road ways. We the voters ultimately suffer. We suffer due to water crisis and no electricity,” said another agitating voter.
Tripura polls have been completed today, as the West Tripura Lok Sabha poll was held on April 19 along with a by-poll for the Ramnagar constituency.
