Agartala, July 16 (TIWN): Health Minister Badal Choudhury today reviewed the latest situation of malaria outbreak in the state and said that the Health Department is now fully ready to tackle any situation with sufficient stocks of anti-malaria drugs.
He asked all concerned officials to make sure that all Rapid Diagnosis Test (RDT) kits were dispatched to PHCs and CHCs for use among residents of the affected areas. One lakh RDT kits were flown to the state on Tuesday. He reviewed the situation of DDT spray in distant villages and instructed Health Department officials to continue health camps in all areas of the state.
Choudhury asked for strict maintenance of the treatment protocol suggested in the National Health Policy while treating malaria patients.
According to latest information, no fresh deaths were reported from anywhere in the state. Out of 5,248 fever patients who underwent blood tests in the state, 931 were freshly infected with malaria. 815 fever patients were admitted in different hospitals across the state today; 359 among them were found to have been infected with malaria. A total of 1,88,522 fever patients were treated in hospitals and healthcare institutions since June 13.
