AGARTALA, Dec 18 (TIWN): On Monday, India’s poor CM received Bashava Krishi Award from Lingayat Panchamasali Jagadguru Mahapeetha for his selfless service to farmers. Although he has been declared by the corresponding authority as the most sincere and honest CM across India, to serve as a role model for other CMs, hardly he could elope from the allegations against him on Rose Valley Scam. The award in his kitty could not save him.
In the award ceremony some reporters have thrown question on him regarding his connectivity with Rose Valley Scam. Irked with the situation, he said,” Do not try to equate me with Mamata Banerjee. The allegations are completely false. Mine is an open book and I have nothing to hide." In a comment towards WestBengal CM, he said: "She (Banerjee) is saying this to save her skin in the Saradha Narada and Rose Valley issues."
Manik Sarkar , the chief minister of Tripura since March 1988 , was allegedly being said to have link with the scam. MLA Sudip Roy Barman in a press meet revealed various data in regard to the allegation of the former. "The Rose Valley Park was built in 16.5 hectares of land in Agartala. The government provided them half of the land at a cheaper price and allowed another half to be encroached," alleged Roy Barman. He said the land which was encroached by Rose Valley belonged to tribals.
Isolated voices are erupting among Tripura residents, with several individuals posting on social media Manik Sarkar’s speech during inauguration of Rose Valley’s amusement park in Agartala in 2008, where he was seen praising the firm and its owner Gautam Kundu, a fellow Tripura boy, and stating how the theme park would be a boon for the city and the state as a whole.
