AGARTALA, Dec 18 (TIWN): With the advent of dry season, people across the state are suffering a lot in order to fulfill their thirst for drinking water. There are either no sources for getting drinking water or sources need to rejuvenate.

Kathalia- Monaipathar is hilly area with 44 families. Since 1999 with the inception of  Kathalia Block only 3 tube wells are installed . But tube wells have stopped working after few days after which no adequate steps were taken in fixing those. Under the prevailing situation, people are forced into drinking unhygienic water.

In Belbari block under Jirania Nagar Panchayat, only water source is located at the top of a hill. Several funds were looted by the local officials of the block in providing drinking water source. During rainy season it becomes too difficult for the villagers to  climb up the hill in getting water

Under the same Jirania Nagar Panchayat, in Barjala people have no choice other than to drink iron-contaminated water. Tube well which used to provide drinking water is not working .So people  are forced  to drink contaminated water.
