AGARTALA, Jan 17 (TIWN): Whereas many State Govts and ruling parties are strictly against demonetization and cashless economy, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy said, “If demonetization, cashless economy can not be utilized by the state govts, then the economic condition of the states will be as same as West Bengal. In 1980’s time, when India adopted computers, the West Bengal Govt denied to accept it alleging that it will increase unemployment. However, the result was just the opposite as it was seen that the states which adopted the methodology they experienced massive economic growth after that. But at the same time West Bengal economy just fall down and the loss the people are facing till dayâ€, Roy said. “Now the West Bengal Govt crying for updated machineries and but nobody cares. In the same way the state leaders should utilize a move in proper time before the time outâ€, Roy added. “The seminar on Digitalization and cashless transaction is very much important as we are talking about a revolutionâ€, Roy said.
"Till day revolution meant bloodshed and clashes, but this revolution is just unique”, Roy said.
“It’s very natural when revolution comes, public get a shock but after a time people accept that. Same happened in 1950’s when ‘paisa’ was introduced. Many political parties protested against the move, and when at Kolkata few clashes occurred, the protesters further manipulated the topic. However, after a time public accepted the revolution. Same will happen now too. No lines are found before ATMs. In coming days normality will come more”, Roy added.
“I have deep pain for those who died due to demonetization, standing before ATMs, Banks but for that it can not be said that Demonetization was a wrong decision. Today Kashmir is peaceful, fake note problems are no more and if this digitalization can not be utilized then economy will be heavily reaped”, said Governor.
Governor further thanked the Bankers and the common men for their extreme supportive attitude towards demonetization. Governor also appreciated the organizers for conducting this workshop which was held at Matangini Pritilata Hall on Digitalization and cashless transaction, organized by CSC VLES and Computer Print (Enrollment agency CSC).
