AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): The RBI on Monday in a release enhanced the withdrawal limit from ATM from prevailing Rs 4500 to Rs 10,000 per day, per card. The limit on withdrawal from current accounts has also been enhanced from current limit of Rs 50,000 per week to Rs 1 lakh per week. However, the overall weekly withdrawal limit of 24,000 rupees per card remains unchanged.

RBI had placed limits on cash withdrawals following demonetisation of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on November 9, 2016. The demonetisation ended on December 30.

Although cash withdrawal limit has been increased, Cash crunch continues to irk common. Most of the ATMs across the state particularly in Agartala remains out of service and the working ATMs are releasing only 2000 rupee notes.

Common people are suffering a lot in the whole process. Getting exchange for 2000 rupees is a big deal due to lack of 500 and 100 rupee notes in the market.

Even in bank it is difficult to get cash over the counter.

But the most interesting matter is that even after much pains, public is confident about Modi’s strong decision. They are saying, ‘the crisis is for a limited period. But this is the prevailing situation since Nov 8.

It was said that no harassment will be faced by public, but due to lack of cooperation from bankers, the public are facing hard times here.
