AGARTALA, Jan 16 (TIWN): Recently, 60 meter of the 2.25 km flyover is been concreted. In order to curb the rampant traffic problem across the town, Tripura Govt. had taken the maiden step in building a two lane flyover stretching from the police line in southern Agartala to fire brigade Chowmuhuni (square). ). At present there are 3.20 lakh motor vehicles of various categories in the state and parking has become a major problem in the daily life to deal with in the state capital. The foundation stone was laid down by CM Manik Sarkar on May 27, 2015.

Expressing concern over how safe the flyover would be-localites alleged that the kolkata disaster can also happen in Tripura .Lack of proper planning, delays, lacunae in design and bad tendering may trigger accident in the under-construction flyover at Tripura.

"They have a time schedule and you cannot delay with these projects. You need proper planning and you can't play with human lives," a common man alleged after reacting over the status of the flyover construction work at Battala. Civilians were noted saying   that tender in this perspective should be based on experience and shouldn't be simply handed over to a firm which quotes the lowest price.

One  can imagine the fate of Tripura’s first flyover at Agartala as Manik Sarkar's CPI-M Govt. awarded Rs 300 crore flyover construction contract to a well known corrupt company. The project has gone to Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited through a national tender. Nagarjuna Construction Company was blacklisted by Pondicherry Govt in 2012 for indulging into massive irregularities which was unearthed by the Anti-Corruption Branch of CBI in Chennai.  Further Hyderabad based  Nagarjuna Construction company owner AVS Raju is relative and business partner of jailed corporate thief Ramlinga Raju, former Chairman of Satyam Computers.

Going by the statistics, decades old negligence shows CPI-M 's primary interest always remained enriching party funds with corruption money rather than serving masses as per poll planks .Otherwise how CPI-M will explain that in 2007, Bengal Govt picked a tainted Hyderabad  based company IVRCL Infrastructures and Projects Ltd..Against this company multiple cases were listed nationwide for cheating, corruption, even Jharkhand Govenment recommended CBI probe in 2010  against blacklisted IVRCL for bribing former CM Madhu Koda to bag Rs 410-crore rural electrification project.

In similar fashion, allegedly IVRCL Infrastructures bribed then Bengal PWD Minister Ashok Bhattacharjee, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee led CPI-M Govt to bag Vivekananada Flyover Rs 164 crore contract in 2007. On March 31st, 2016 at least 24 people died and over 100 got injured after Kolkata's Vivekananda flyover collapsed.

Tripura is notably on the Seismic  Zone V and recently an 5.5 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in Dhalai District has jolted the stateA project which has failed the initial- load testing   as eye witnessed by commuters, how safe and robust it would be is still a mootpoint. Hope History  does not repeat  as Kolkata’s Vivekananda Highway.
