AGARTALA, Oct 17 (TIWN): When quality is there, price doesn’t matter at all ! The urban haats as Purbasha and other shops which are selling Tripura made garment products of high quality are ironically undergoing heavy losses, allegedly due to the high price. But on the heart of Agartala City Bhutias are making profits every year, where independent women are doing their own business, making their own stalls for their fair at Agartala Orient Chowmuhnai. Although their Bhutia items’ prices’ are also high but their business never goes under losses. On the other hand, Tripura’s garment industry yet to see any commercial revolution inside & outside the state. Motivating women for outside business is a matter of farway, here Industry Minister Tapan Chakraborty doesn’t make any plan to boost Tripura’s economy with garment products.

Railway service could be used as exporting of Tripura made items, but CPI-M Govt has failed to raise the demand of Tripura made garments across the nation even-after it ruled for long 23 years.

Tripura house-made dresses although have good quality but may be their designs are not matching with the demand of the public. But such topics were never raised by Industry Minister in any meeting.

Moreover, self-help group centered fairs are done for name-sake. Lack of motivation, modern technology, skill, has left Tripura’s tribal garment products yet unpopular.

Skill development is for name-shake whereas people here do not know how to boost the garment business with modern technology, factories, men-power etc, resulting high price products, less attractive items although their quality is good.

Tripura Industry Minister should take a lesson from the Bhutia culture & motivate Tripura women about to become self dependent out of garment product business.
