Tripura Govt set maximum CCTV cameras’ with businessmen’s help for Durga Puja : Many CCTV cameras left as non-workable

AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): Although from Govt side the permanent setting of CCTV cameras are still not done in crime reduction, but to ensure a peaceful Puja, with the cooperation of Business malls CCTV cameras have been mandatory for this puja.

Owners of hotels, restaurants and the managing authorities of various shopping malls have been asked to install CCTV cameras outside their buildings.

Few big Puja organizers have also been asked to make proper security arrangements to monitor the crowd in and around the pandals. Metal detectors will be placed at the entry points.

It’s worthy to mention here that during nights the capital city becomes the domain of robbers, thieves, lunatics and in this situation the there is no CCTV cameras also in the city since years.

On February 18, 2015, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar himself said in the Assembly that all the police stations to be provided with CCTV cameras but  presently maximum cameras are left damaged and unused after more than 1 and half years are gone.

In the city more than 30 CCTV cameras are left in ‘non-workable condition’ which increase the chances of crime in the City.
