AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): Tripura Police top officials led by DGP K Nagraj held a press meet on Tuesday, ahead of Durga Puja-2016.
With the coming of train service this year a huge number of passengers are expecting. ‘Thousands of devotees to come in this puja season’, said Abhijit Saptarshi during the press meet.
Addressing the press meet DGP K Nagraj said this year Durga puja is likely to be celebrated at 2509 places/ pandals in Tripura including 1014 pujas in urban areas and 1494 in rural areas. In Agartala surrounding areas, Durga Puja will be celebrated at 494 pandals.
Nearly 4100 police and 3350 TSR personnel will be deployed in the state to maintain law and to regulate traffic movement. Volunteers will look after the crowd & to control crowd every pandals have made separate entry & exist.
Huge highway security to be maintained & police will be given in every corners.
However, the accident issues held during Puja was raised at the press meet.
Launching of CCTV cameras in selected spots are undergoing but the exact number of CCTV cameras police didn’t told the media for the safety issue.
With the launching of Express train a huge number of passengers have booked ticket already for the puja season. Including businessmen, devotees are to be landed in state.
Railway safety dept to look after the issue of passengers’ safety along with the cooperation of police, BSF, TSR.
Border areas also have been put in high alert, observing the sensitive condition of the country.
